In a swift movement, Sasuke held Kasami by the back of her head and crashed his lips against hers. Kasami's whole body froze, she didn't expect his lips to be warm, in contrast to his cold touch. As Sasuke's grip on her head didn't falter, she gave in to the kiss and began to relax. Their kiss wasn't aggressive or lustful, it was slow and sweet but with a longing desire.
Sasuke pulled away first and looked at a flushed Kasami, her usual rosy cheeks were crimson red. He found that to be the most beautiful sight he had ever seen. Kasami saw the smile on Sasuke's face and she couldn't help but smile too. She tried to hide her face behind her palms, but he held her hands and leaned in to kiss her again.

A few hours later, Sasuke had gone to hunt for something to eat, he used that time to control his thoughts. He had kissed Kasami and he couldn't get enough of her. He needed to calm his hormones and clear up his head as well. He knew he had to go back to Orochimaru, there was so much he still had to learn from the Snake sannin, but he didn't want to bring Kasami back. He also didn't want to be away from her, he somehow needed the peace that she brought to his life. The question was where could Kasami be safe? she needed to be away from Orochimaru and Itachi but close to him.
Then, he thought of sending her to Leaf. She would be safe there, Kakashi and Naruto would keep her safe, but that meant that he had to stay away from her. He sighed deeply, the thought of her becoming a victim because of him made his stomach turn. He would have to talk to Kakashi or relay a message to him only. If he explained the situation then they would understand, right? 'no, they would use her too against me, they would use her to make me come back.'
Sasuke turned to look at the sun setting on the horizon and that was when he decided what to do. 'Sacrifice,' he frowned at the thought, he would have to sacrifice this peaceful feeling for her safety and his goal. "I will make it up to you, I swear," he said looking at the cabin where Kasami was sleeping.

When Kasami woke up, Sasuke was staring at her. She could feel her cheeks burning already so she decided to look away. Sasuke on the other hand never stopped staring at her, "is everything okay?" she asked noticing his demeanor.
"I want to ask you something," he finally said, gazing at the rabbit cooking on top of the fire.
"Ok," she looked nervous now.
"I want to know why you were acting strange in the past weeks," Sasuke didn't miss the way her eyes widened at his question.
She didn't say anything, instead, she pulled her legs closer to her body and hugged them tight. She buried her face in her knees ignoring the pulsating pain in her ribs.
