Kasami and Temari arrived at the sand three days later. They rarely spoke during the trip. It wasn't hard to tell that Temari didn't like her much, which was a bummer because Kasami had never even met her before this. Kasami wasn't going to let this bring her down. Girls never seemed to like her, but that didn't matter; she was there to complete her mission and stay busy.
Kasami saw the buildings in the sand village; some were still the same, and some had changed a lot. It was extremely hot, and she could feel her cheeks hot and skin red from the sun. Kasami followed Temari to the upper floor of the building, the kazakage's office.
Kasami's legs begged her for a break, but the curly-haired blond continued climbing the stairs until they reached the 8th floor. Kasami felt glad when she saw Temari enter a room, passing the two guards in front. "Is he here?" she asked, and the guards nodded.
Kasami walked behind Temari as she walked through the door into the office. "I'm back."
The Kazakage ignored her for a second. "Was your trip okay?" Then he turned to look straight at Kasami as if he felt her chakra and stood up from his chair. "Kasami," he gave them a warm smile, "welcome to the Sand."
Temari rolled her eyes and threw three scrolls on his table. "Mission accomplished, now, I'm going to go shower."
Kasami looked at the blonde woman as she walked out of the office, leaving her there. "Please have a seat. I'm sure you are extremely tired," Gaara motioned to the chair in front of him, and Kasami walked towards it.
"I have this for you," Kasami gave him the scroll, and Gaara took it.
"So you are the one sent to us from the Pharma center," Gaara placed the scroll on the side, ignoring it. After watching Kasami nod, he continued, "Did Temari give you a hard time?"
"No," Kasami responded immediately, "she did not."
"She can be hard-headed and stubborn sometimes, but she is not a bad person," Gaara said with a subtle smile. "Very well, you will be working with Kankuro, my brother, he is in charge of the installations you will be working on. "
"Okay." Kasami's tiredness had left her body, and a feeling of nervousness had replaced it.
"He will explain more of the job you will be required to do," Gaara said. "Would you like to go rest, perhaps, eat or drink something?"
"I would like some water and maybe a private place where I can heal these sunburns," she said, a little embarrassed.
"Right, of course," he said. "I'll make sure someone gets you what you need." Gaara stood up and motioned for her to follow him upstairs to the Kazekage's residence. "Please rest and be ready at 7 for dinner," Gaara said as they got closer to a room. "You will be staying here tonight, and tomorrow Kankuro can show you the facility."
