A mysterious contract

I see darkness around me and I can't move my body. Ouch... Why my head and my body hurt so much. I wonder about what happened at the end of the portal until I heard a voice besides me.

So I suppose a explosion happened on the other side and I was caught in the blast. Just my luck, well we are really off to a great start... What are the chances of this happening? I should ask for a vacation when this is over.

I managed to open my eyes to see a woman above me but I see something very concerning, I didn't see any color. I check my body and find the source of the problem, my heart just stopped beating... I'm starting to think the odds were stacked against me to have this shit at the start.

I check myself for any injuries on my body and any missing stuff. Fortunately my body is fine except the pain and the box is still with me but I lost my primary weapon, at least I have my assault rifle.

I was having a lot of questions as for why she cannot command but I hold my thoughts to concentrate on the urgent menace.
