The wind was crisp as the breeze blew your hair out of your face as you continued to walk up the hill. It was quiet, away from the society you grew up in on the outskirts of town where no one dared to wander a lone. Step by step you took with your head hanging low, your hand came up slowly to wipe away a tear that slowly fell down your cheek. This was it, your breaking point, rock bottom as some would say. You were done.
Living life on this island was one people would be grateful for, the island was huge and vast. The town was upgraded and had the finest advancements in architecture and design. Not to mention the tourists and trading that went on in the town square. People came from all over to see everything and to trade in their goods. Marines, bounty hunters, and pirates alike all came here and in all you have met many different people over the years. Some of them actually lead to you getting your hands on a special devil fruit eventually even. Over the years you could say you were a people person, never staying at home too much as you wandered the crowds of new people only because they had no idea who you were. A fresh start if you will any time you spoke to someone new because only then did it seem like you would get a decent amount of friendless in a conversation.
Life was fine here, growing up and being born in the town. Eventually being raised to hopefully take on the family shop, but that was all thrown out the window once you ate that devil fruit in hopes that the pirate crew you had hung around would take you on an adventure. It wasn't a rare fruit no, nor was it one that would be feared by many. Some could say it was even useful if they truly listened to you as you spoke about it. But yet once your family found out about you containing the powers within you it was as if a switch was turned off and you were shunned. It was subtle at first, the glares, the short responses that grew to silence as your family told you to leave the house for good. Then the word spread to the people of the town, the neighbors next door, anyone that would listen as they watched you get thrown out from your own home. Then the town started to hate you, choosing to think that from one decision you ignorantly chose that you were so awful.
The days grew long as they went by, begging for forgiveness from your family, from your town you grew up in. Weeks and weeks went by until a year of constant shame was being thrown upon you. Hearing the insults, the names they called you as they gazed at you as if you were some monster. It was enough to make you hate yourself for even being alive anymore, pushing you over the edge until now at this point in time as you climbed up the grassy cliff on the edge of the island. It was just too much for you to handle anymore, laughing at it now how pathetic you must look. Going from so lively and free to secluded and quiet, living out in the outskirts of town trying to make a living when sometimes it was hard to get by. They wouldn't mind if I left was all you could think as you continued to walk, the grumble of your stomach was loud from barely eating anything in the past day.
Ignoring everything around you, you were dead set on walking all the way to the top. Not even caring about the ship that was docking down at the bottom below, maybe they could take your body if they find it once you are done here. Although you chose to ignore the ship below a certain someone chose not to ignore you as you slowly made your way up the cliff. A certain young red headed captain watched from afar as he stood upon his ship as his crew docked it on shore to make camp for the night. Wondering who was walking over here in the middle of nowhere at this time of night when they chose to stay away from the main village for a reason.
"Hey Benn....do you see that?" Shanks asked as he continued to watch you from afar as you walked with your head facing the ground. Even though you were quite far away the captain could make out your figure clear as day. Also being able to tell how sad you were as you walked, knowing there wasn't any bit of confidence in your stance. The ship's first mate slowly made his way over to his captain, the height difference was apparent between them as he glanced in the direction the red head was pointing in.
