Gwen's POV

Spider-Woman...

I paced back and forth, considering the possibilities that my new powers opened to me.

And looking for my favorite hoodie.

From what I had learned so far, I could stick to walls, had super-senses, and...

Uhm...

That's pretty much it so far.

I'm sure there's more to this, I just don't know it yet.

"Ugh, I am so excited!" I exclaimed, flopping down on my bed.

"I mean, on the one hand, I have superpowers. Which is already pretty cool in of itself. But on the other hand, I have superpowers. Which is very scary, because there are so many super-villains on the rise right now, which means I would have to fight them because I have the ability to do that."

"And...to be honest...I'm a bit wary of the superhero idea."

"That's alright."

Hobie rested on a chair in my room, casting a lazy glance over at me.

"You shouldn't be the one to call yourself a hero."

"Huh."

"That was...oddly deep."

Hobie sharply exhaled and shook his head, his body shaking with laughter.

"What?" I asked defensively, sitting back up.

"You, Pav, and Miles have stupid conversations. Not with me."

I rolled my eyes and laid back down on my bed.

"Thanks a lot, Sensei."

"You're welcome."

I took in a breath and sighed, staring at the ceiling.

"If I'm supposed to fight bad guys, I'm in trouble. I have no idea how to fight – at all."

Hobie scoffed. "You sure? You hit pretty hard for someone who doesn't know at all."

"I know how to throw a punch and stuff; I just have no idea how to fight fight. Like, block punches, dodge attacks, parry, and things like that."

"You're going to have to teach me, Hobie."

"You won't learn anything from me. I have no specific fighting style."

"Of course – because:

"You don't believe in consistency."

"I don't believe in consistency."

We both laughed as Hobie stood up and approached the door.

"Where are you going?" I asked, curious.

"The question is, where are we going?"

He tossed me my hoodie – the one I had been looking for earlier.

"You- "

"Ready?" He asked, nudging his head toward the door.

"Wh- "

"Wait a minute," I said, standing up.

"You made me skip classes today, and now you want me to sneak out of school?" I hissed the last part, not wanting anyone to hear our plans. For all I know, the security guard could've been patrolling this area right now.

"I didn't make you do anything."

I opened my mouth to protest...

But closed it as I thought about it more.
