Ch.9-
~Newt~
We led the rest of our friends through the dimly lit streets to the church. It was in fact a church. A very old looking one. The red brick exterior was crumbling. The metal roof had rusted in placed which left gaping holes. The front doors had been busted off. Only old hinged proved that there had been doors at one point in time.
"Well shucks," Frypan said in awe as he shone a flashlight around. My friends and I were standing in what I reckoned to be the old lobby. Lights dangled by their cords overhead. Envelopes with the churches name littered the floor. A bench was against the long right wall.
"Song books," Dan picked one up and blew the dust off.
Frypan and Jorge walked ahead with the flashlight. At the end of the narrow entry way were two tall doors. They were still perfectly intact.
"They must have given up here," Brenda said, "Whoever trashed this place."
"It's a crime on a whole other level to vandalize a religious site," Frypan stated.
Daniel yelped, "Ay!"
"What?" Jorge asked. He aimed his light down at Daniel's feet. I shivered.
"Someone died," Brenda shrugged.
Sure enough in front of us was a large pool of blood. If you squinted hard enough it still looked wet.
"Shanks alive. You've dragged us to a slaughter house!" Frypan freaked out.
"Come on," I walked ahead, around the dried blood, "Gally wouldn't have sent us here if it was going to be our end."
"That is debatable," Daniel muttered next to me. I cast him a disapproving look. He just rolled his eyes.
"Okay well now what?" Jorge asked as we filed into the sanctuary. I pushed the two doors closed.
"Well now we wait," Frypan sat down near the front of the room. The room was filled with tipped pews, pieces of paper, and broken glass. Brenda turned on a lantern and put it on a table at the front. I sat down on a pew and sighed.
About 20 minutes later I heard struggling outside the door.
"Let me go!" A girl shouted.
Me and Daniel both ran to open the doors.
"Glad to see you made it," Gally said as he shoved Teresa into the room. Dan closed the doors after Thomas slipped in.
"Well well," Jorge crossed his arms. "Finally we're getting somewhere."
"Gally?" Teresa asked in disbelief.
"Here is how this is going to work," Gally replied with crossed arms, "We're going to ask you some questions. And you're going to tell us exactly what we need to know." He dragged a chair in front of Teresa, "We'll start off simple. Where's Zoe, molly, and Minho?"
Teresa looked back at Thomas, "You don't seriously think-"
"Don't look at him. Why are you looking at him? He's not going to help you," Gally cut her off. "Now we know you have them in the building. Where?"
I leaned forward a bit.
"Molly and Minho are with the others in holding. They have Zoe isolated. Charlie too."
My heart skipped. "Who is Charlie?" I demanded. I already knew.
Teresa looked at me.
"Who is Charlie?" I pressed. I needed to hear it.
