Almost Everything

"So what now?" I asked. We sat side by side on the floor. Still stuck in this dam elevator. I looked at Olivia, she had her eyes fixed on the door opposite from us.

"Now? You go home and phone Arielle. You arrange a low key date in a public place. Somewhere you will be seen. Maybe get a coffee or a late lunch." Her eyes never left the door opposite us. Her voice sounded normal, her facial expression didn't change. It was as if she just ordered a coffee.

"Okay. And what about us?" She furrowed her brows at the mention of us.

"We keep things strictly professional at work. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes. But when will I get to see you again?"

"You get to see me at 8:30 when I will drop yours and the rest of the boys your morning coffee. Then at 9:30 tomorrow at the meeting we have scheduled. And then..."

I cut her off before she had the chance to finish her sentence. " I didn't mean it like that. I meant when do I get to see you again like this. Just you and me?"

"I don't know alex. I...." But yet again she was cut off but not by me but by the sound of the elevator moving beginning to move again. She automatically stood up. Grabbing her bag and slipping on her white coat. The bell dinged as the doors slide open. "Goodnight Alex" and like that she was gone. Disappearing into the night. And suddenly we were strangers again.

I went home that night and did exactly as she told me to do. I called Arielle and arranged a late lunch with her tomorrow. I told her that I wanted a proper date. Not one that has been set up for my publicity. She seemed to buy it. But that night I couldn't take my mind of Liv. She was just so different from everyone else. She's special and that's the thing, even if we were together she wouldn't really belong to me. She doesn't belong to anyone or anything. She's off in her own world. And that is what truly amazes me about her. I like the sense of adventure she gives me when I'm around her. She makes me feel free. With her I'm just Alex. I'm not not Alex Turner the front man with all this pressure in my shoulders. I'm just the quiet shy boy from Sheffield.

"Okay, so lucky for you I managed to save your contract with your label no thanks to lover boy over there." She directed her stare at me. She kept her eyes on me the whole time. I wish I could say her stare felt uncomfortable but it wasn't. It was like having a bit of that drug that you desperately need to help you get through the day. "So you have the unlimited freedom to do as you please on this next album. I also have some very exciting news which I managed to confirm whilst I was in London." She still hasn't take her eyes from me the whole time. It felt so good to have her full attention on me. "You guys will be playing the opening ceremony at the London Olympics!" My jaw nearly dropped when she said this. Collin clapped his hands cashing me to jump.

"That's amazing!" Chirped Matt. The other lads nodded their heads in agreement. They all seemed pretty excited about it. Everyone but me. "Hey we should go out for drinks later?" Jamie suggested. "You should come to Olivia." For fuck sake Jamie what are you doing? She doesn't want to come to drinks with us? But she took me by surprise with her response.

"If love to thank you Jamie! Alex you should invite your girlfriend Arielle. I bet she's going to be so proud." What was her game? Why was she being like this? A minute ago we were basically have eyes sex.

"Urmm, yeah" i stammered. I cleared my throat, regaining my calmness. "I'm sure she'll be so please. We having a late lunch today I'll ask her then. I can't wait for you all to meet her!" Two can play at this game Liv. But I couldn't help but feel guilty about the way I handled that. I could of sworn I say the look in her eyes as her heat sank.

"About time mate." Matt slapped me on the back.

"Right, you should all get back to work. Especially if Alex wants to finish early to get to his date." There was a mumbling of agreement and we all stood up and left the room. Everyone except for me. I stood in the door way. I pulled the door close and turned to face her.

"I thought that was what you wanted?" I asked her. She didn't even bother to look up from the papers in front of her.

"Wanted what? Alex is there something I can help you with? I'm really busy here." She still didn't look up at me. I took a few steps closer to her.

"You just left last night. I thought we had an agreement of somewhat? I arranged a date with Arielle because I though that was what you wanted? What do you want Liv?" She finally lifted her head to look at me.

"I want many things Alex. But right now I want you to leave my office and close the door on your way out." And like that her gaze fell back to the papers on her desk before her. I stood there absolutely flabbergasted at what she just said. I'd lying if I said I wasn't hurt by it. But I swallowed my words and left the office. Slightly slamming the door behind me. What just happened? It's as if she was a complete different person last night compared to now.

// so...... Thoughts are very welcome on what you think is going to happen on Alex's and Arielle's date and what's going to happen when they meet up for drinks! Also the first comment gets to choose the name of Olivia's best friend! It can be your own name or your favourite name I don't mind.
