"Okay, that's enough," I muttered, taking in a sharp breath and prying her away from me.
"You are welcome, and goodbye," I said, not unkindly, and swung away.
I heard her sigh happily from behind me and wrinkled my nose.
Oh, what have I gotten myself into?
I was forcefully shaken out of my thoughts as Doc Ock jumped at me once more, this time pinning me against the wall by the neck.
"Ugh..." I gritted my teeth and tried not to panic as I thought of a plan.
My venom shock is out of the way, so that's not an option...
Damn it.
But, just then, my senses flared - but in a good way. The kind that made my stomach flip over and my body feel warm.
Not even three seconds later, Spider-Woman came in with a powerful kick to the side of Doc Ock's face, knocking her away and releasing the crushing grip that she had on my neck. Spider-Woman then shot two webs at the doctor, pinning her tentacles onto a wall and pushing her forward. She then delivered yet another kick to Doc Ock's face, kicking her through the wall entirely.
I quickly found my balance and landed on both feet as Spider-Woman came toward me.
"Fashionably late, as always," I remarked, smiling under my mask.
She rolled her eyes and held her hip. "Well, at least I was able to land a hit on Doctor Octopus over there," she said, gesturing to the hole in the wall.
I chose to ignore her snide comment and instead gently corrected her. "It's best if you say Doc Ock; it rolls off the tongue easier."
"It's best if you say Doc Ock; it rolls off the tongue easier."
My senses went off as I realized I wasn't the only one who had said that - it appeared as if Spider-Woman's attack hadn't fully stopped Doc Ock.
The doctor pushed towards us, a maddened look in her eyes. She seemed much more serious and less playful - she was fighting with the intention to kill.
Spider-Woman and I shared an understanding nod before she shot webs at the Doc's tentacles, pinning them to the wall. I then kicked her face and punched her once more, just for good measure.
I stepped back, slightly panting as Spider-Woman looked at me strangely.
"Huh."
"What?"
"I just thought you would've shocked her instead."
"Uhm..." I paused.
"I guess I didn't think of that." I turned away pointedly and found myself almost face to face with Liz once again.
"Ah!" I said, slightly shocked.
"Thank you so much, Spider-Man! I thought I was going to die back there!"
"Um, sure. Just...doin' the job." I mumbled uncomfortably.
She looked like she was about to burst with joy, but just as she opened her mouth, a police officer came and took her away, stating, "Alright, leave the poor man alone."
I released a relieved sigh and turned back to face Spider-Woman, who, yet again, had a weird expression on her face.
"She a friend of yours?" She asked, fidgeting slightly, as if she didn't know what to do with her hands.
I opened my mouth and closed it, deciding to mess with her a little. "Maybe. Why?"
"Oh...no reason." She exhaled.
