Fort Benning. That was our plan. 125 miles was what lies ahead. We had stopped at some warehouses to gather up on supplies, while we were there we found some cars that were left, so Daryl and T-dog took it upon themselves to siphon the gas. Daryl also decided to leave behind the truck, and use his motorcycle that was in the bed of the truck.
"You gonna ride with me or be in the RV?" I turned my head towards Daryl who was already on his motorcycle with his cross bow hitched on the very back.
"I'll ride with you." I smiled.
I walked over to Daryl, situating my bag onto the back of the bike, then placing my hand Daryl's shoulder and my foot on on the foot peg. I hoisted myself up, swinging my leg over to rest on the other foot peg. I hesitantly wrapped my arms around his torso,
"Just don't-"
"Just don't talk your ear off, yeah I know" I finished his sentence with a laugh.
He revved the bikes engine, and we slowly began to move causing me to instinctively tighten my hold on him. We were leading the caravan now as Daryl could scout up ahead.
Daryl was weaving over the road, clearly enjoying his time being on the bike. I was just enjoying the wind on my face, and in my hair.
After about an hour of driving I looked ahead and saw cars piled up in the middle of the road, and Daryl started to slow down.
"Well shit." I muttered.
He slowly weaved through the congestion, trying to see a way through for the bigger cars.
"If they drive slowly and carefully they should be able to fit through." I said over Daryl's shoulder.
He nodded, turning around and driving back towards the RV , which now was stopped.
"See a way through?" Dale shouted out of the window of the RV.
Daryl nodded and motioned for him to follow, he drove around the RV, to be back up front to lead them through. It was like a vehicle graveyard, doors were opened, some were over turned, it made me have a sick feeling in my stomach.
"Jeez." I whispered.
There was a loud clank noise, I turned my head around to see smoke coming out of the hood of RV.
"Daryl, we have to stop." I said over Daryl's shoulder again.
Daryl turned his head around and saw the RV stopped, causing him to turn the bike around, parking it next to a hatchback that was on the road.
I was the first to get off, walking over to Dale who was complaining about the hose breaking again.
"Problem Dale?" Shane asked in front of the obviously smoking RV.
"Just a small matter of being stuck in the middle of nowhere with no hope of-"
Dale looked over at Daryl who was looking through an open trunk of the hatchback we parked next to that had a variety of things in it.
"-Okay, that was dumb."
I walked over to the hatchback with Daryl, looking through it as well.
"Can't find a radiator hose here." Shane said.
"There's a whole bunch of stuff we can find." Daryl said as he picked up a backpack looking inside it.
"I can siphon more fuel from these cars for a start." T-dog said as he began walking up a little ways.
"Maybe some water?" Carol asked as she held tightly onto Sophia.
The group split up to look around, find anything they needed. I walked up to a car with its trunk opened, it was filled with bags and carry on bags. I unzipped the backpack and inside it was some canned food, a couple of water bottles, medical supplies and a bowie knife. Instead of taking all the shit individually, I just grabbed the backpack. I unzipped the carry ons, and it was just full of clothes, clothes that were far too big for me to even consider wearing. There was a pink carryon with Minnie Mouse on it and my heart dropped.
