Tyreese said he would stay with Noah while the rest of us went to scavenge anything we could. Towards the back of Shirewilt, I noticed a break in the brick wall and it was obviously not by accident. Whoever did this, did it intentionally. So when Michonne brought up the idea of putting up garage doors to stack against it, I wasn't game for it.
"It can work." Michonne pleaded.
"This place is surrounded by a forest. There's no sight lines." Rick said in a polite way.
"Not only that." I began as I led them towards the break, "these tracks lead into the community." I pointed out, "whoever did this, it was done intentionally. Leading to this." I emphasize as I motion to Shirewilt behind us.
She sighed heavily, "We could start taking down the trees. We use them to build the walls up."
We walked through the break and saw the carnage that was left on the other side. Body parts, being deliberately cut in half, arms and legs scattered about. It was then, I think Michonne realized that we couldn't stay here. Not with people who did this close by.
"Washington." She said abruptly, "Eugene lied about a cure, but he thought of Washington for a reason."
"But he was lying." Glenn said matter a factly.
"About the cure, but he did the math and realized that Washington was the place where there'd be a chance. We're close." She said, "What if there are people there? Huh? What if it's someplace that we can be safe? We're 100 miles away. It's a possibility. Instead of just being out here. Instead of just making it. Because right now, this is what making it looks like." She motioned to the bodies on the ground.
From the trees, snarls and tree branches break as few walkers come out of the tree line.
"We should go." Rick said. "It's 100 miles away. We should go to Washington."
I saw Michonne's face soften, but only for a split second before we all heard Noah's screams.
"RICK!"
"HELP! GLENN, MICHONNE!"
"PLEASE! JORDYN, DARYL!"
We all took off in a sprint, running towards his screams. I reached for my sword, I could feel my heart in my throat as I rounded the corner of a house, and saw several walkers on top of Noah, the only thing separating them was a piece of a wooden lattice fence.
"Hold on, Noah!" Glenn shouted before hitting one with a baseball ball then stabbing it in head with his knife.
I went wide, and swung at one walker, but my sword ricochet off of something metal attached at the walkers neck, causing me to drop the sword. I grabbed the walker by the collar of its shirt, trying to keep it a good enough distance away from me. I didn't have to fight long before I saw an arrow sticking out of its skull and I was the only thing keeping it up.
I dropped the walker, and turned around to look at Daryl,
"Thanks." I said as I picked up my sword.
He came over and pulled the arrow out of the walkers head, "Just protectin' what's mine." I heard him say quietly so the others couldn't hear.
My stomach did a somersault, but it was short lived, yet again as Noah said Tyreese had been bit.
We all ran behind Noah following him to his house where Tyreese was. When we got there, Noah led us to a kids room where Tyreese was propped up against a wall, his eyes barley opened, and his left arm completely magled.
"We gotta cut the arm off." Rick said as he grabbed Tyreese's left hand while Glenn held onto him. "Michonne, one hit, clean! Go!"
Within a blink of an eye, Michonne's sword came down against Tyreese's skin, severing the infected arm. I grabbed the nearest thing that would help slow down the bleeding, a blanket. I wrapped it around his arm and him as Rick and Glenn helped carry the man out of the house and to the front gate.
