Y/N POV

Cherri and I talked for a good few hours. What she had to say was definitely a big help. She assured me that what I said was all correct, that my dad was mostly in the wrong. But, she informed me that what I had said about my parent's divorce was a, "bitch comment." And I had to agree, I had definitely crossed a line when I said it. I was thankful to have her as a friend, she was never afraid to call me out on situations where I also contributed to being in the wrong.

I was told that it would be best to try and see my father. If he apologized and seemed genuinely remorseful about what he had done, then we should try to talk things out and work on what happened. But if he didn't seem sorry for what he had done she told me to quote, "tell him to shove his tail up his ass and get my sexy deer boy to handle him."

I looked at the time after we had gotten off the phone, Alastor wouldn't be home for quite some time and there wasn't much food in the cabin. So, I decided I would go out and get some groceries. Alastor had ever so graciously given me one of his credit cards for if I ever wanted to go out and spoil myself. I got changed my clothes, grabbed my purse and my phone, stuffed the card inside, and flew off into the city. It was a bit of a longer flight, but it was nice to stretch my wings.

I stopped in cannibal town to visit Rosie, we were close friends way back when my father was an overlord. I was always forced to go to the overlord meetings and she always made it a little more fun. I grabbed some things Rosie recommend for Alastor, thanked her, and walked to more normal shops to get the rest of the groceries.

I grabbed some special surprises for dinner, things we needed to do laundry, and paid the cashier. They almost fainted when they saw whose name was on the card, which I found amusing. With groceries in hand, I began my fly back to the house. It took a little longer because I didn't want anything to fly out of the bags, but I reached home soon enough. I set down one of the bags and opened the door, then picked it up and walked into the house. With a hip bump to the door, it shut and I made my way into the kitchen and set the bags down on the counter.

I almost jumped out of my skin when I was taken into a very tight embrace. It wasn't until a static laced hum ran through my ears that my body relaxed. "Well hello to you too Alastor, rough day at work?"

"You have no idea," he chuckled a bit, "I missed you." He gave my cheek a kiss, bringing a wider smile to my face. I leaned back into him, my lips connecting with his jaw from our height difference.

"I missed you too. I got quite a lot accomplished while you were out though. Called an old friend, decided what I wanted to do with my dad, paid Rosie a visit, got you a few surprises, got some groceries. Y'know fun adult stuff." Alastor hummed and held me closer.

"Well it sounds like you had quite the day, my flower. Now what was this I heard about surprises?" I smiled at him and started to lead him out of the kitchen. Once in the doorway of the living room he looked at me with a very confused expression.

"That, my love, is something that you will have to wait for. No coming in the kitchen till I say so!" He gave me a smile and started his way to the living room. He grabbed a book off of the shelf before taking a seat on the couch. Just as he opened it up, I saw a black flash rush in the direction of the kitchen, "ah-ah. No shadows or magic to watch either! It's supposed to be a surprise, so no peaking." I immediately saw the black flash again, this time returning to Alastor as he huffed. "I'll tell you when I'm done!"

"Oh you torture me dear, away from you all day and now you push me away." I laughed from the kitchen and took out some venison, vegetables, and a bottle of wine I got today and smiled. Alastor could be so impatient when it came to things like this. He had told me a few stories of his mother going out after telling him she would bring home a surprise. In each story he always talked about how it was agony to wait for her to return with whatever she had brought home that time.

I started humming to myself while I prepared the venison to be cooked. My ears flicked up and turned to the sound of clicking. A sound that I had learned were hooves attempting to be quiet as they walked across the floor. I slid the venison out of sight from the doorway in the kitchen and turned my head. There was Alastor, attempting to tip-toe his way intro the kitchen in order to figure out his surprise.

He was looking down at his hooves, as if watching them would make them sound quieter. When his head began to lift, I saw the smuggest grin on his face. As if he had gotten away with his attempted spying. The second his eyes met mine, his smile went from "I win" to "oh shit." I narrowed my gaze at him which made him realize I had been watching his movements for quite some time before you noticed me. "Couch. Now." Were the only words I said before he turned and booked it back to the couch.

He really did act like a child sometimes, but it was nice to be someone who got to see that side of him. I returned my attention to preparing dinner, Alastor, thankfully, hadn't tried to peak at his surprise again. It wouldn't be long before dinner was done anyway, all he had to do was one of the things I discovered he wasn't good at. Being patient.
