I silently sketched in my notebook, my bedside lamp the only light source. My headphones were blasting a playlist of my favorite music as I drew intricate lines left and right.
The only reason I am doing this is because tomorrow is the first day of school, and it is a new school. The summer has come to an end, and it is not like I did anything. I'm just nervous, I guess, with new people and teachers and all.
My door opened, revealing my mom.
"You should get to sleep, tomorrow is a big day," she said. I took my headphones off and placed them in a drawer along with my iPod. I put my notebook onto my nightstand.
"Alright, mom," I said, crawling under my covers.
"Goodnight," she said, closing the door as she left. I rolled over to my side, staring at the floor. I guess tomorrow won't be that bad, but you never know.
I closed my eyes and thought of good things like bunnies and all that girly junk. Not that I like the stuff, but at least it calms me down.

"Hun, wake up!"
I opened my eyes, my vision a little blurred. I heard my alarm clock beeping nonstop and saw my mom overhead of me, attempting to wake me up.
"I'm up, I'm up," I muttered groggily, shoving my covers off of me.
"Okay, but you woke up seven minutes late," she said before leaving me. I sighed and got dressed before brushing my teeth.
I hurried downstairs, backpack in arm, and sat at the table for breakfast. My dad was opposite from me, newspaper in hand. Mom was making coffee.
I looked down at my bagel.
"Have a good day," my dad said, putting the newspaper down. He grabbed his cup of coffee and left for work.
"Are you nervous, sweetie?" my mom asked. I shrugged, standing up after looking at the clock.
"I'm fine," I assured, throwing my backpack over my shoulders. I started for the door. "Bye, mom."
I walked out the door and headed for school, which was only a couple blocks away. Today was pretty hot for September, but then again, it is still technically Summer.

I finally got to the school. It looked barren, and that is when I realized everyone went inside already. I hurried inside, head down, and the locker hallways were so crowded. I sighed and pushed my way to locker number 232. I had to travel all the way to the beginning of the hallway before finding it.
I entered the combination. It was hard since the locker was a bottom locker. I heard the locker to the right of me. It sounded like the person was having a rough time, so I moved my locker door out of the way to see what was up.
"Are you-"
My jaw dropped as I saw a gray person with lightning shaped horns that were yellow, orange, and red. He also had fins and a purple streak in his black hair. He had glasses and looked like a wizard-hipster... if there is such thing.
"-okay?" I said that a little lower. He sighed. This was so weird... was he just dressing up? I looked around, and to my surprise, there were more of these things! They all had different horns but same colors.
"Nah, this stupid locker is not cooperatin'!" he complained with a little accent. How come I never saw these things before? I only moved in last week.
"Need help?" I offered. He nodded while looking at the ground, moving over a bit.
I crawled over to his locker after he gave me the combination. I opened it with ease and crawled back to my locker, unloading my backpack.
