Chapter 25: I want to be both your younger brother and stepmother. (2)

Start from the beginning

When he reached the giant black coffin at the center, Yue Chu no longer looked human. Trembling, he knelt down on the ground and, with great difficulty, stretched out his skeletal hand to knock on the coffin lid.

"I'm badly injured. Can I hide here for a while?"

There was no response from inside.

Yue Chu spoke again, "If you don't answer, I'll take that as a yes."

With a thud, he fell in and came face to face with the Blood King lying inside.

It was a person beyond words to describe. The pale skin seemed crafted from the finest ice crystals, naturally perfect features that even in the dim light were enchanting. Silver-white hair flowed like silk, quietly draped behind, as if moonlight gathered into strands.

But to Yue Chu's eyes at this moment, even the most beautiful person was nothing, because hunger had taken over his mind. The fragrant blood made him unable to resist taking a deep breath, droplets of saliva falling onto the Blood King's black robes like blossoming death roses.

He tilted his head back, without hesitation sinking his teeth into the Blood King's neck. Instantly, the delicious blood flowed into his thirsty throat, soothing his pain and heat like a clear spring.

Yue Chu half-closed his eyes in fascination, uncontrollably drinking. If this were an ordinary human, they would have been drained long ago. With the replenishment of blood, the recently ruptured wounds gradually healed, the cracked skin returning to its original smooth beauty.

However, this enjoyment didn't last long. A forceful blow sent him crashing into the coffin wall. Before he could react, someone grabbed his neck and pinned him to the ground, their strength almost crushing his throat.

Yue Chu's eyes narrowed, mobilizing all his strength to resist, but his efforts were futile in front of the Blood King, like struggling in quicksand, unable to exert any force.

He blinked slightly, the pain of his neck being squeezed forcing him to tilt his head back.

Yue Chu stared silently at Rafa, seeing no hope of escape in those eyes, but surrendering without resistance was not his style. Quietly, he concentrated all his strength at his fingertips, waiting for the opportunity for a fatal blow.

However, just then, Rafa released him. His silver, dense eyelashes trembled like snowflakes, and a hint of confusion appeared in his crimson pupils.

"Five generations of pure blood?"

Rafa's voice was deep and pleasing, like a cello softly vibrating.

Yue Chu withdrew his strength, touched his neck, and distanced himself from Rafa. It had been a long time since he encountered such a strong opponent, and this overwhelming force made him alert.

He thought the system was about to get him killed, but he didn't expect his identity as a fifth-generation pureblood to save him.

Rafa scrutinized the child before him. He had always thought there was only one pure blood, Xinuo, but he didn't expect to encounter a second one by chance. The young vampire before him was seriously injured, and he could smell his weakness, likely wounded by a very powerful hunter.

If not forced, this child would never have forcibly entered the Blood King's resting place, because the injuries sustained here were heavier than those just received.

Rafa liked children with a fierce spirit. This young vampire, intelligent, steady, and strong, coupled with a pure bloodline, could be said to be very outstanding.

With that thought, he remembered his other child—Xinuo, who was also a fifth-generation pure blood, strong and beautiful, the ideal heir he favored. He wondered how he was doing during his absence.

Thinking about this, a barely perceptible tenderness flickered in Rafa's blood-red pupils.

Rafa: "Come here."

As the Blood King, Rafa held an absolute protective attitude towards the remaining pure blood. He was not good at dealing with the younger ones of his kind; they all trembled like chicks when they saw him. Although it was meant to be caring, when spoken from Rafa's mouth, it sounded rigid, more like a command than a comfort.

Yue Chu lifted his face, looking at the person in front of him with some concern. The silver moonlight streamed through the uncovered coffin, casting a faint halo over his snow-like face. His raven-black short hair lay smoothly against his clean forehead, and his bright crimson eyes, tinged with vigilance, reminded Rafa of the pure blood pool in the dark ice spring—clear and pure.

The news of the Blood King's awakening immediately caused a stir among the vampires, and along with it came the attention given to Yue Chu—the fifth-generation pure blood brought back by the Blood King.

Rafa didn't specifically arrange for Yue Chu, because he knew very well that there was only one heir, and that was Xinuo. He would protect Yue Chu, but he would never allow him to harbor thoughts he shouldn't have.

Rafa's attitude quickly made it clear to the vampires about Yue Chu's status. The enthusiasm towards another pure blood immediately dissipated, turning into icy indifference.

Yue Chu followed behind a maid through the long corridor. The gray-white bricks were pieced together in a typical European style, with emerald rose branches tightly entwined around the pillars, and elegantly blooming bright flowers, adding a touch of color to the ancient and heavy castle.

He subtly surveyed the castle. The terrain here was complex, with winding corridors looping back and forth like a vast maze. Occasionally, dark shadows flashed in the corners; those were the eyes of the Blood King's spies, constantly monitoring the passing people.

Yue Chu gazed at the towering castle in the center, faintly curling his lips. It seemed that he had indeed been assigned to a distant and remote place.

"Sir, from today onwards, this will be your residence."

The maid leading him was very young, with a round and plump face that looked tender enough to squeeze water out. She was a newly transformed E-grade vampire. She was both lucky and unlucky. Lucky because she didn't degenerate into an F-grade vampire, a mindless monster, but unlucky because she could only ever be the lowest-ranking vampire, relegated to menial tasks.

The young maid seemed to enjoy her job, working diligently when cleaning, but her occasional glances were not very friendly. This outspoken girl didn't quite like Yue Chu.

Yue Chu didn't mind, finding her rather amusing. As for her unfriendly glances, they didn't bother him at all.

The curtains in the room were all drawn, without a trace of sunlight inside. Only the bright candlelight on the walls and tabletops flickered with warm radiance, decorating the room beautifully and warmly.

He picked up a cup made of moonstone and shook it gently. The smooth surface of the cup reflected a beautiful halo, casting the scene of the room within.

His keen vampire eyesight allowed him to see every corner of the room. The decor here wasn't particularly luxurious, but it had everything one would need. Yue Chu had low requirements in this regard, so he didn't feel any sense of loss.

He walked to the window and pulled back the curtains to look outside. It was daytime, a time not favored by vampires. The square below was deserted, with only a few blood slaves diligently cleaning.

Yue Chu rubbed his fingers together, a hint of blood red flashing in his eyes. Being too far away made it inconvenient for him to act. However, the immediate priority was to adapt to his body and strength.

He shrugged his shoulders. No wonder humans were so fascinated by these dark powers from ancient myths. They were truly captivating.
