I looked back at Stark Towers, the glass reflected the light making the tower look like it was made of diamonds.
'This is for you Uncle Ben' I whispered and walked in with my head held high.

—————————————————————————

I walked through the automatic glass doors and cold air hit my face. The lobby of Stark Towers was as bigger than my entire apartment, and it was gorgeous. A sparkling chandelier hung in the middle, refracting little rainbows across the tiles on the floor. I suddenly felt very inadequate in my t-shirt containing a rather stupid math pun. Everything was just so clean.

I walked up to what I hoped was the front desk, unsure where or what I was meant to do. The email said I had to get an ID?

The man working the desk seemed nice enough but very busy. His name tag said Jeremy, surely he'd know more than me.

'Um hello' I started
'Kid we're not doing tours, so I'd appreciate it if you'd leave' Jeremy said curtly, not looking up from his screen.
'Oh um no sorry there's a mistake, I'm meant to be here' I tried again.
'Listen Kid, don't think I haven't seen your type before, trying to sneak in, so if you don't get lost I'll have to call security' Jeremy threatened. I froze on my spot. Unsure what I was meant to do now. I really didn't want to get escorted out, but I also didn't wasn't to be late on my first day.
'Mr Jeremy, uh sorry b-but I'm meant to be here, I'm um here for the internship' I stuttered, hoping he wasn't actually going to call security, man that would be a bad impression.
'I will admit that's a good excuse, but the internship is for adults, not 12 year olds' Jeremy retorted back.
'I know I'm a bit on the shorter side, and uh a little skinny' I spluttered, looking down at my body, and the heinous shirt I thought would be funny, 'But I'm actually 16, and I have an email and everything' I tried, my eyes pleading for him to believe me. The panic was coming back in full force, oh my god I was actually going to get fired, my breathing quickened, and without my permission my eyes started watering.

'Happy I need assistance at the lobby, we have another... intruder' Jeremy said his temper edging into his words. And suddenly it was like all the air left my lungs. I hadn't had a panic attack in a while, I was getting better. Why wasn't I getting better? May was gonna kill me. The school was gonna expel me. At least I wouldn't have to see Flash  again, but my friends would probably stop talking to me.

'Hey hey Kid' An unknown voice cut through my panic, and a hand landed on my shoulder making me flinch.
'Just breathe kid, follow my breathing' The voice said, my eyes burry from unshed tears. I breathed when the voice told me to, and the panic subsided.

A sharp pain in my sore stomach from a quick intake of air, brought me back to the present.

'Hey Kid, you ok?' The man with the voice asked, concern laced his eyes, the rest of his face remained stoic.
'Uh yeah um I'm good, I'm fine' I shakily replied. 'Thanks for the help'
'No problem kid, you sure you're good' The stranger asked again, I nodded not wanting to be the cause of anymore trouble.
'What seems to be the problem Jeremy' The stranger asked.
'The kids lying about being a part of the internship to get into the tower' Jeremy's replied coldly, seeming to not care he just shoved me into a panic attack. The stranger looked back at me, and my muscles seized up. He tried placing his hand on my shoulder, subconsciously making me take a step away.
'Is that true kid?' He asked gently, maybe he'll be willing to listen.

'Um n-no sir, I swear I would never lie about s-something like that. I am a p-part of the internship, I have an email?' I said hastily. I brought out my phone, and pulled up the email.

The strangers gaze moved to my phone, carefully reading it, and then narrowed his gaze on Jeremy.
'The kids not lying Jeremy, he's got an email' The stranger growled.
'It's probably a fake, you know how clever and desperate some of these kids are' Jeremy retorted, still refusing to believe me.
'What your name kid' The stranger asked gently.
'P-Peter Parker Sir' I replied.
'Check if that names in the database, won't you Jeremy' The stranger asked, however even Jeremy knew it was an order.
After rolling his eyes, he slowly typed the name, Jeremy's eyes widened in shock.
'Oh' was all he was able to say.
'So you're saying you called security on this poor boy without even checking if he was telling the truth.' The stranger growled in anger, making me flinch.
'No' The stranger shouted, 'Well I mean yes, but some kids are, you know, a bit sneaky, especially ones that look like him, I was just trying to do my job.' Jeremy wailed.
'Your job is to make sure everyone is able to find where they're meant to go, so no I don't think you were doing your job Jeremy, and I don't think you'll be doing it for much longer' The stranger retaliated. My eyes widened, I didn't want Jeremy to get fired, I just wanted to get to the internship on time. I checked the clock on my phone, and suddenly panic started grabbing at me again. I was already 6 minutes late. I was so fired.

I gently tapped the still yelling stranger, who looked down at me with fire in his eyes. Trying my best not to flinch away, 'Um I'm sorry but I'm already late to the internship, is there anyway I could get my ID' I asked softly, hoping he wouldn't turn his anger to me. 'Oh and a map' I asked quickly. The prospect of finding the room in little time seemed unlikely. The stranger nodded down at me.
'Of course Peter, sorry about that' The stranger replied.
'Jeremy give Peter his ID, we'll continue this later.' The stranger ordered.
Jeremy hastily got out my ID, and quickly shuffled  back to his work.
'Um I really do need that map so I'm not more late' I asked again quietly.
'No need I'll take you myself, I'm Happy' The stranger- sorry Happy- stated. 'I'll explain what happened to your supervisor' A breath of relief left me, grateful I followed him as he started walking to the elevator.
'You sure you're ok? I'm really sorry that happened to you, and I assure you we'll try and fix the problem as soon as possible' Happy stated, in a tone that made me fear that there could be a potential murder.
'Oh um no it's fine, I swear. And please don't fire Jeremy on my account, I'm ok really. He probably really needs the job, and I don't want to be the reason he's out of one' I rambled, guilt would eat me up if I was the reason someone was fired. As much as I'd hate seeing him twice a week, it wouldn't be worth a probably good receptionist.
'As much as I appreciate you trying to help him out for whatever reason, we can't have an incident like this happen again. We'll see what happens' Happy answered. I guess that is true, Jeremy being rude to more people was a valid concern.

The elevator dinged open, and Happy walked in.
'There are 49 levels in Stark Industries, as well as 15 living spaces, as your a rookie intern you have access to levels 1-15, and depending on the work you could get clearance for higher levels.' Happy prattled off robotically , as if he'd said it a million times before.
'We're going to level 12 at the moment, that's where most of your work will be for now' He said as the elevator doors opened up. He walked out as if he owned the place.
'How often do you get panic attacks' Happy asked bluntly. My eyes widened, unsure how truthfully to answer.
'Uh not a lot thankfully' I answered.
'Hmm' was all Happy said. 'And what about that bruise on your cheek how'd you get that' He asked again. My hand instinctively reached to my cheek, and pressed lightly. I winced at the sudden pain. Well that was new, no wonder Jeremy didn't let me in.
'Oh that, I ran into a door' I said, trying to laugh it off as not serious. Goddamn Flash causing problems even out of class.
'Hmmm' Happy repeated, his eyes closed in on the bruise. My stomach dropped, he had to believe me.
'Yeah I was running in PE, and I um accidentally just ran into the wall, I'm a little clumsy.' I tried again. Hoping he believed me this time.
'I thought you ran into a door' He said, crap crap crap.
'Oh sorry well I meant a wall, my bad' I said. Another hum was all I got.
'Well here we are' Happy said waving his hand at a glass door. I walked inside, eyes wide. I was home.
