Dogday

I headed inside my room and prepared myself for the date Catnap had invited me. "I think I should confess to him tonight. It's the perfect timing," I thought. It was around six in the evening and I knew the sun would go down soon so Catnap should be here sooner than later. I look at myself to see if I look presentable. Nothing to fancy but just normal. I heard the door knock and I knew it was Catnap. I headed downstairs and arrived at my front door but hesitated at turning the doorknob.

I had a minute of hesitation but I breathed in and out to calm myself, "I can do this," I thought to myself. I turned the doorknob and opened the door and there was Catnap holding a picnic basket with a blanket in it.

"Hey Dogday, you ready?" Catnap asked.

I smiled at him while nodding nervously, "Yeah I'm ready," I said. "Great, we should go now since the sun is setting and I don't wanna miss the sunset and neither would you," Catnap said. I left my house, closed the door behind me and followed Catnap. We were going inside the forest and it was dark since the day was almost over. I got a bit scared and I let some whimpering sounds that even Catnap could hear. He turned his head around and looked at me with a concerned face.

"Hey Dogday, are you okay?" Catnap asked. I shuffled uncomfortably, "Not really, this place is like straight out of a horror film," I said exaggerating. I was being a bit dramatic making Catnap laugh and I got a bit upset by it. "Hey don't laugh, I'm being serious," I yelled. Catnap continued to laugh and walked closer to me. "Oh Dogday..." Catnap chuckled. He held my paw with his paw and I was red as he was holding my paw, "...you never fail to make me laugh. It's adorable sometimes," Catnap said. My face went full red as he said that. "Come on, I'll hold your paw the whole way and you'll feel safe with me. Consider it as thanks for last night at the sleepover," Catnap said.

"Heh, thanks Catnap. I appreciate it," I said. "You're welcome puppy," Catnap said. He called me a nickname and I blushed. The whole walk we were paw by paw as I was blushing the whole time. I felt comfortable for the first time in a long time.

Catnap

"We're here," I said. We arrived at the place and I look back at Dogday's face as he look awestruck with the view. I placed the picnic basket on the floor, took out the blanket and placed it down on the ground. "Come here and sit down with me Dogday," I said as I placed my paw on the blanket. He blushed and it was very visible but I smiled at him.

"Don't be shy. It's just us," I reassured. The look on Dogday's face shows hesitation but he accepted my request. He came to me and sat next to me. "Wanna see a cool trick I learned?" I asked. "Sure," Dogday said. "Look at my tail," I said. Dogday looks at my tail. I moved my tail to the picnic basket and picked it up, bringing the basket closer to us. "Wow, that's so cool," Dogday said.

"When did you have time to learn that?" Dogday asked. I placed my paw behind my head, "Well it just happens sometimes. I used to do it without reaction whenever something falls out and my tail moves on its own to catch it but now I can do it on command," I answered. I took out some of the sandwiches and gave some to Dogday and he accepted my food. The sun sets beautifully as we eat.

"Wow, the sunset is beautiful Catnap. It's so pretty and bright," Dogday said. "Not as bright as you Dogday," I thought. "I agree. I knew you would've liked the sunset so I brought you here," I said. "Well I love it. This could be our secret spot," Dogday said. "Secret spot huh...that's a good idea," I thought.

(Thirty minutes later)

It was dark now. The sun was gone and the skies were filled with stars. It was another beautiful star gazing night with Dogday. "The night is beautiful, isn't it Dogday?" I asked. He looks at me with a sparkle in his eyes, smiling. "It is Catnap," Dogday answered.
