6. Breathless

They all nodded, each quickly kissing her forehead, I then carried her into the bathroom, setting her on the sink.

I took a rag and wiped the blood off of her face

I carefully took her shirt and slid it over her head, revealing a large black and blue bruise covering her side.

"Nova this may hurt so I want you to hold onto me to stay steady." She nodded, wrapping her arms around my neck as I unbuttoned her pants and slid them off, revealing even more of the bruise.

She stayed still, wincing a bit initially.

"Good girl." I whispered, lightly kissing the tip of her nose.

I took my flannel off, putting it on her and buttoning it.

"There we go." I took the hair tie out of her hair, letting her hair fall to where it usually laid in the middle of her torso.

I picked her up again and placed her in my bunk. There was no way that I could lift her to hers without hurting her.

I placed her in and laid next to her, closing the curtain behind us.

I pulled the blankets over us, making sure she was in a comfortable position, kissing her forehead.

"If you wake up and need anything wake me up." I whispered to her.

"Denis?" She whispered.

"Yes?" I asked.

"Thanks for coming tonight." She whispered.

The next morning I woke up next to Denis.

He looked so peaceful when he slept, one arm was positioned above his head, while the other was across my stomach.

I raised my hand to his face and gently brushed his hair away from it, placing my hand on his cheek, lightly rubbing it, drawing shapes on his torso with my other hand.

His eyes fluttered open and he smiled at me.

"Good morning." I whispered, pulling my hands back, a bit embarrassed that he had caught me.

"How are you feeling?" He asked.

"It hurts like a bitch." I bit my lip.

"Okay we will get you your pain medication." He said, sliding out of the bunk and gently picking me up.

"You know that I can walk right?" I asked.

"I'm not going to let you just yet." He bit his lip, looking concerned.

"Good morning." Ben and Sam smiled at us.

Denis sat me down on the couch and grabbed a glass of water and two pills.

I swallowed them and drank the water quickly, handing the cup to Denis.

"Can you drink the rest? The doctor said that you need to hydrate." He asked.

I nodded, quickly finishing the glass as Denis wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

"Good girl."

He pressed a kiss to my temple, rubbing my shoulder lightly.

"So Denis, what was it like undressing Nova?" Ben teased.

"Just because I'm crippled doesn't mean I can't still kick your ass Benjamin." I growled.

Ben chuckled.

"Well you are definitely not as drugged as you were last night." Sam commented.

I looked up at the clock and immediately stood up, wincing as I did.

"Woah Nova, stop." Denis stood up, holding me steady.

"Denis let go! I have to get to the stage and help set up." I attempted to push out of his grasp.

He held onto me tighter, causing me to wince a bit.

"Nova we will take care of it. You need to rest and heal so you can get back to your job in two weeks." He said calmly as I clawed at his arm.

That was what I liked about Denis, he never really got angry.

I pushed out of his arms and walked towards the tiny bathroom.

"Nova what are you doing?" He asked.

"Going to take a piss, wanna come watch?" I rolled my eyes at him.

He sighed and sat down on the couch.

I entered the bathroom and looked at my reflection.

I lifted Denis's shirt to see bruises covering my side.

My eyes had dark circles underneath them and my hair was a giant mess.

I sighed and washed my face, then put my hair in a plait to tame it.

I looked at Denis's shirt and unbuttoned one of the buttons so it looked a little bit better.

I exited the bathroom and slowly sat down on the couch.

"So what's the plan today?" I asked as I sat down across from Denis.

"We have a show, but you are staying in bed and resting." Denis told me.

I turned to Ben.

"Ben tell him he can't expect me to stay in bed all day." I made a puppy face.

"Sorry Love. Denis is right, you need to rest up."

I sighed.

"You guys are no fun." I sighed.

They laughed.

The boys took turns changing in the bathroom until they had about twenty minutes left until their signing.

"Denis?" I bit my lip.

"Yeah?" He asked.

"Could you help me, uh, change again?" I asked awkwardly.

He nodded.

"I'll grab your clothes."

I silently thanked him as I sat on the bathroom sink, waiting.

He walked into the bathroom and shut the door behind him, handing me a pile of clothes.

It consisted of one of his V necks, and a pair of his shorts, and a set of my lacy underwear.

"I uh, thought you would be comfortable in looser clothes." He said, scratching his neck awkwardly.

"Uhm, can you wait outside while I change my underwear?" I bit my lip.

He nodded, exiting and closing the door.

I slowly changed out of my old ones into my new ones.

"Denis you can come back in now." I announced, holding the bra to my chest.

I turned so my back faced him.

"Would you mind hooking this?" I asked.

He quickly snapped it in place, then put his shirt over my head gently.

"Hold onto me." He instructed while he put my legs into the shorts he brought for me.

He opened the door and led me to the bunks, he swiftly picked me up and placed me into his bunk again, tucking me under the covers.

"Rest well today." He instructed.

"Yes Dr. Denis." I winked at him as he walked away, smirking.
