I outstretched my arms as I absorbed the summer suns warm rays. I looked over to my companions, who were walking beside me.

"Wow, I could get used to this world's weather! It's just..." I took a deep breath of the summer air. "Perfect." my grin quickly transformed into an impatient glare as I waited, and waited, and waited... for Mochi or Akari to respond, but they just continued paying no head to my attempts at conversation. Akari had a decent excuse for this, as she was still so flustered she probably couldn't produce even a single understandable word. Mochi on the other hand? I didn't know what his problem was. I sighed as i began observing the busy townsfolk and elites bustling around us.

"So how do things work in this town... is there a king or something?"

Mochi sighed and finally decided to acknowledged me, "Well unlike the other towns, Wyrmridge is ruled by an elite group known as the council. Pretty much all of them are just old geezer pushovers who got appointed because their 'daddies' had a high rank and wanted to pass it down to them."

I was pretty shocked about how much Mochi knew about the political system of Wyrmridge. I had always thought he was more of the laid-back type who wouldn't know a thing about government or politics. Suddenly I realized I wasn't wrong, Mochi was a laid-back person who didn't care about anything!

"Mochi... did you by any chance have some issues with the government in this particular town....?"

"N-No! W-Why would you even think that, ehehehe..."

Akari took a deep breath, finally escaping her flustered state and regaining her ability to form complete sentences.

"Cody, you're right... Mochi once got put in the towns dungeon for eating fourteen bowls of ramen and not paying for so much as one of them... hence why he holds a grudge against the people who sent him there."

Mochi shot her a dirty look of betrayal.

"Anyways," Akari stated as she tried to ignore Mochi's look. "We're here, Meet our town blacksmith, Mr. Wong!"

I looked up at the hulking blacksmith. He was ginormous! He had black hair that was shaven to look like this world's version of a crew cut... and... to my dismay, he wore nothing but shorts and an apron, allowing his enormous muscles to show, he had a... let me count... twelve pack!?!

"Greetings Akari and strangely clothed unfamiliar new male child, what, may I ask, have you come for today?" questioned the large man in a thick Chinese accent.

Akari, to my surprise, was unfazed by the tall man's intimidating aura.

"Mr. Wong, We've come to ask if you could forge my new friend Cody a sword," the gargantuan man brought his face towards me, only stopping to observe me when he was nearly pressing his forehead against mine.

"He doesn't look very needing of a sword... however, what he does need is some confidence, he's trembling like a bowl of noodles."

"Well... that's why I want to get him a sword." stated Akari as she gave me an apologetic smile. "I'm afraid he'll get himself killed without one.

"Hey, it's not my fault! I've never fought anyone in my life."

The blacksmith suddenly grabbed my arm and dragged me to the back of his shop.

"Well, if you want a sword, you're going to have to pass a licensing exam!" excitedly exclaimed the man. My eyes went wide as we turned the corner of his blacksmith shop... his backyard was the definition of a death wish...

"Anyways, have fun surviving strange new male child!" cheered Mr. Wong as he shoved me onto a large, raising, spinning platform with various knives swinging about.

"You're a madman," I screamed as I desperately rolled away from the path of a swinging knife. I ran around the spinning platform, barely avoiding being impaled by various sharp objects, such as a sword sticking up from the ground, some needles that shot out of a cannon, and even a random anchor that seemed to fall from the sky. To my dismay, when I looked down, expecting my friends to be mounting a rescue mission, I was instead greeted by a smiling Mochi, happily chowing down on some extremely over-buttered popcorn. At least Akari was showing a face of... Wait, was she laughing!?! Well... I guess I'm on my own then. As I brought my attention back to my surroundings a large hammer the size of my body suddenly sprung out of the floor and raced towards me. I quickly grabbed my school bag and swung it in front of me as a sort of armor. The hammer launched me off the platform as it hit me, causing me to feel that all too familiar, time slowing-down feeling, along with the regular dose of random thoughts. Hmm... I guess Mrs. Wilch's english homework was useful. I wonder how my friends from school would feel if they knew I was saved by English homework of all things. I thought, slightly dazed. Guess I'm lucky I wrote this week's book report. I suddenly landed on a tree and tumbled through it until I face-planted into the grass.
