"Wow... this thing is practically shining!" I exclaimed, taking in the amount of work it must've taken for something like this.

I carefully grasped the glittering blade, and gave it a little practice swing. "Don't get me wrong, Its really nice... but why is it so short? Its pretty much a pocket knife compared to Akari's."

The large blacksmith let out a hardy chuckle. "Well, even with the lightweight material we used to forge your blade, It might've been too heavy for a noddle like you to use properly. I just shortened it to take some of the weight away."

I frowned, definitely not appreciating his description of my body.

"Trust me kid, don't underestimate it because of its size. That blade could most definitely kill. Just let young Akari show you!"

Akari grinned, and snatched the blade from my hands. We all followed her to the back of the shop, where a few hay dummy's were standing.

"Just watch and learn Cody!" She said as she readied the new blade in front of herself.

I gasped as she suddenly thrust forward with unnatural speed, holding the blade to her side as she began dicing the dummy with the same confidence a normal person had when dicing onions. In about half a minute, all that remained where small cubes of hay where the dummy's had been standing moments before.

"W-what the!" I stuttered, completely surprised at my companions skill.

"It can cut." Noted the blacksmith with an approving nod.

Akari ran over to me with a large, accomplished smile, and handed me the now holstered blade.

"Wow Akari, I never knew you could do that!" I admired.

She blushed from the compliment, "Oh, I'm not that skilled, its just a little practice is all..."

I attached the leather holster around my waist, making sure my blade was easily accessible.

"Alright kids, as much as I want to hang out, I have a blacksmith shop to run, so if you wouldn't mind I would like you all to get going." Stated the large Chinese man.

"We have to get over to the affinity shrine anyways, so don't worry about it." Said Mochi, who began into the town streets once again.

We all thanked the blacksmith, and followed Mochi out of Wyverndale.

I sliced the air in front of me with my new blade, trying to get a feel for using such a weapon.

"Would you stop that kid! your going to slice my head off!" Yelled Mochi with a snarl.

"Sorry Mochi, I'm just trying to get used to using this thing in case something attacks us."
