Monday and Tuesday were very busy for both Sayeon and Jeonghan. Sayeon started her job at the history museum. She already knew that she was going to love working there. Monday, a co-worker gave her a tour of the whole museum and then sat down with her to tell her what her job consisted of. Sayeon would be working full time. In the mornings, she would help her co-worker, Harin, with the morning deliveries and record them into the computer system. In the afternoons, she would either give tours or walk around and answer questions if need be.
Tuesday through Friday, Sayeon would be job shadowing Harin, and starting the following Monday, she would be on her own. She had weekends off since the museum wasn't open. Sayeon liked Harin. She was friendly and had an outgoing personality. Harin was a few years older than her and was engaged. During their break on Wednesday, Harin took her out four lunch at a cafe down the road from the museum. It was very small but cozy. The coffee and pastries were amazing.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Jeonghan was sitting in the conference room, listening to his boss, Sujin, talk about their new insurance policies that would take effect next month. They had to let their clients know and update it in their computer systems.
Jeonghan was busy on his computer taking notes. The sound of the door open, Sujin stopped what he was saying to see who walked in. Everyone then stood up and bowed, Jeonghan included. His father and the owner of the company, Joong-Lee, walked in. He bowed his head to his staff and signaled for Sujin to continue. Joong-Lee took a seat next to Jeonghan. He grabbed the agenda sheet and looked it over, nodding his head once in a while.
Sujin and the rest of the workers had no idea that Joong-Lee and Jeonghan were involved in a gang. The insurance was just a cover-up. Joong-Lee never expected his company to grow big, but he loves money, so he was satisfied. Jeonghan could care less. He would rather work anywhere else besides here.
The meeting concluded and the staff left. Jeonghan quickly gathered his things and hurried to leave, but his father stopped him.
"A word, Jeonghan."
Jeonghan made eye contact with Sujin and nodded his head. Sujin walked out, shutting the door. Jeonghan turned to his father and set his things down. "What do you need, father?"
Joong-Lee was still sitting down. He was leaning on the table, with his hands clasped together. "I need you and a few of the guys to go to China this weekend to meet with Ming Tao. Wonwoo told me about one of Kaito's men intervening with our distribution. So, I need you to deliver the goods to him personally."
Jeonghan sighed and bent his head down, clenching his hands on the chair in front of him. "Why me? There are others who are capable of doing this." He looked up.
"Because you are my son, and I trust you more than anything. You can choose whoever you want to go with. Just get the job done. You can have a few days off when you get back."
"Fine, I'll go. When do I leave?" There was no use in fighting with Joong-Lee. Especially when his father had something over his head.
"Fly out tomorrow night on my private plane. Should be home by Saturday, if all goes well." Joong-Lee stood up, walking to the door. "Don't forget, Jeonghan. One wrong move, and you know what will happen." He smirked, knowing how to make his son do anything for him.
Jeonghan turned to him. "Don't you fucking dare do anything. Leave her out of this." He glared at his father. Jeonghan hated that he knew about her.
Joong-Lee shrugged his shoulders. "The only one that I know that can get you do whatever I want. Such a shame, too. I'd hate to have to put her in harms way. I'll see you tomorrow night. Text me who you are bringing." He walked out, leaving a fuming Jeonghan.
Jeonghan threw the closest object to him, a mug, and threw it at the wall. The mug broke and scattered onto the floor. He ran his hands through his hair, grabbing his neck and walking around.
"Protect her. Do whatever he wants me to do in order to protect her. Fuck you, Joong-Lee."
His phone vibrated in his pants pocket. He released his neck and grabbed it. A message from Sayeon put a smile on his face. He opened it.
Sayeonie: I should be home by 5. If you are still up to picking me up, I'm at the Huening Apartment Complex. I also don't mind meeting you. Just let me know!
Jeonghan: I have no problem with picking you up. I'll be at your place by 6. Would you like me to come up to your place or wait in the car?
Sayeonie: I'll come down. Dress code? Fancy or casual.
Jeonghan: We will be going to the Maple Tree House, so casual. I'll message you when i arrive.
It was close to 3pm. He decided that he would head out. Sujin never minded when he left. He went to his office and packed his belongings, turning his computer and lights off. He said goodbye to a few of his co-workers as he left the building. Once he made it to his car, he took his phone out and made a few calls. The first one was to Jun. Since Jun was from China, Jeonghan wanted him to come. Jun agreed, along with DK, Wonwoo and Vernon.
He tossed his phone on the passenger seat and drove home. He had enough time to shower and relax before his dinner. Enough time to calm his nerves, too. Sayeon is probably nervous, too, he thought. Fingers crossed for a good night and no problems.
