Sober me is far faster than drunk me, but slightly less creative, so I hope you still like this chapter regardless. It was supposed to be shorter, but I couldn't help but keep on writing.

James Potter smirked at Luna's reaction to him standing behind her on the Ravenclaw table with a big box in his arms. He was trying to hold back his laughter at the way some of the girls (some that had already asked him out before) were looking at Luna with jealousy and envy, when he knew that Luna only had eyes for Regulus Black (whom he knew also only had eyes for her and had dismissed some of the same girls not too long before).

"What the fuck is that big box?" she asked, raising her eyebrows.

"Your dress, of course," he said. "I've been tasked to give it to your hands this Saturday. It's for the Malfoy wedding."

"Why you?" she asked.

"Because, legally, now you're my family's magical ward, therefore you're the closest thing to a sister I got. And my mum gave it to me because she was sending chocolate and dulce de leche cupcakes over as well," he said.

Her mouth went agape.

"Are you serious?"

"No. He's –" he started, but cut himself off, glancing over his shoulder before looking back at her. "Listen, it's heavy. Please, take it out of my hands."

Quickly, she took the box and grunted at the surprising weight.

Marta leaned over Morris, one hand on his thigh (he didn't complain of her pushing all her weight on him to lean over) and one at the table, anchoring herself to look at the pastel pink box with black ribbons securing it closed. She sniffed, raising her eyebrows at the deep maroon coloured circle with a complicated design inside.

"That's the Potters' crest," James added, pointing at the drawing at the top of the box when he noticed Marta looking. "But it is yours, Luna. If you don't like it, just write to mum and she'll send another."

"I'm sure this one will be fine. She has my measurements," she dismissed.

He shrugged. "Alright," he said.

James started to turn around and stopped, looking at Luna again as if he had remembered something very important.

"Do you want some of the cupcakes?" he asked.

She blinked, looking away from him and to Pandora, who was staring at James before turning to Luna. Pandora quickly looked away.

"Yes, a dulce de leche one, please," she requested.

Pandora discreet smile made Luna smile to herself as James nodded and promised to bring it over.

Rosalie watched James leaving. "The Potters accepted to take you in? Aren't you living with your mother anymore? What about your dad?" she asked once he was away enough to not hear the conversation.

"Oh, I'm still living with my mum and brother," Luna said, shaking her head. "Lady Potter is just chaperone, really, since my mum has to work so much, and men are not expected to be chaperones."

Marta shook her head.

"There's more to it than that," Marta said. As a pureblood, she would know. "He said that you're legally their ward now. You're Lady Potter's charge."

Luna frowned, about to ask questions, but Pandora was quicker.

"She's trying to say that your parents were recognised as improperly prepared to present to the magical world. It usually only happens to muggleborns; if they are very talented and in an especial program in school or are in exchange program they are expected to find a pureblood family to take them in and teach them the wizarding ways – culture, protocols, family magic even if they are well liked by the family. The pureblood family becomes liable for any magical misconduct or crime that the ward commits while underage," Pandora said, monotone as if she was reading. "Which means that the Potters adopted you magically speaking. You're still your parents' daughter, but to the wizarding world, you're now the closest thing to pureblood without actually being a pureblood. It's completely symbolical. Rather silly, isn't it?"
