TW: SMUT (second part)

Regulus Black's Birthday Ball was supposed to be the event of the year due to his family's influence, but it was due to his connection to Lord Voldemort that people that his family didn't have much contact with started to fill up Grimmauld Place's ballroom with their beautiful coats and dresses, but he didn't care about most of the people in there – he only cared for the beautiful woman in the black and white dress.

Luna wore two plaits tied together in the back of her head in some sort of impressive knot, leaving her neck and collarbones exposed if not for the choker of the same fabric as the dress. But the gown that Euphemia Potter had gotten her was a statement on its own, and even Regulus – a man with little interest for female fashion – knew to be clear.

The gown was a masterpiece and Luna wore it regally. The inner parts of the gown were black, the outer parts were white. It was a creation in midnight black and shimmering gold. The bodice fitted to perfection, adorned with golden embroidery in the white parts of the sleeves and outer coat of the dress, the embroidery curled like ivy over the rich black fabric, reminding Regulus of baroque filigree. The neckline framed the décolletage beautifully, edging the swell of her breasts with lace that cascaded into elegant off-the-shoulder sleeves that were voluminous and refined, cinched at the elbows with a golden ribbon before flaring into sheer black lace cuffs that draped like the phantom of a touch. The waistline dipped into a dramatic 'A', accentuating Luna's silhouette before spilling into a breathtaking skirt of grand volume, unfolding into cascading layers of black fabric, each edged with shimmering gold trim, catching the light with every movement. At the back, the gown unfurled into a small, but elegant train. The bodice and skirt were divided by a thick, white ribbon, pressed together in place by the Gupta's brooch.

The entre ensemble spoke of power, allure and – most of all – of belonging.

That was a gown that many purebloods could not afford to have and would not wear well.

Luna not only wore the Gupta's brooch, she wore real gold the dress. The white in her gown was easily associated with the Potters since the Ministry Ball they had attended in mainly white, the black in the dress a simple nod towards her connection to the Black family.

Something so simple, yet so powerful.

As they danced their first song together, Regulus couldn't stop straining his ears to listen to the whispers and murmurs of people around them just to make sure he knew everything that people were talking about Luna.

"...ward, acting like an heiress," one said.

"She's a House chaser," another said.

"She's always around Black and Rosier. It makes one wonder," even another person said.

Jealousy recked in Regulus' opinion.

The song ended and Luna leaned against Regulus' chest to breathe through the physical exertion and trying her best to ignore the sharp pain on her toes and the back of her feet.

"I love dancing with you, Reggie, I do, but these heels are eating my feet," Luna whispered near Regulus' ear. "I need to sit."

He chuckled at her. "Yes, dear," he said.

Regulus led her away from the dance floor and towards the chairs put in the corners of the room, near the tables filled with snacks – which his mother had decided was enough, not wanting to give a complete dinner, because she wanted the party to be over sooner than the usual time, but apparently people hadn't understood the implied meaning of the lack of food, because they lingered.
