The girl I met in the kitchen needed a lot more help than I expected. I was exhausted afterwards; with only a few hours of rest I dragged myself to my room. Through the corridors, only one person seems to be awake. Whoever it was, was trying to be quiet as a mouse. With a pair of candles I came closer to that person.
At this moment, I wish haven't.
"Oh geez!!!!"
It was Vlad, with only a towel around his waist, "hello Darling, aren't you tired?"
"Yes Dear I am, but why are you still up and coming from room Nr. 42?"
He laughed slightly, "You see, I was giving a wonderful woman a good time...literally. Even old vampires need love, you should know that by now." He stretched his muscles to look sexy, only for the towel to drop. It was faster than I could close my eyes. Unlike me Vlad didn't feel the slightest embarrassed, "Hehehe...woops." One second was already disturbing, but to open then as he bends down to grab his towel, I accidentally saw more than just his back. He winked at me seductive, "Get used to that sight, because my son inherited this hot body."
One thing was for sure, he knows how to give me disturbing nightmares.
Finally in my room, I found another person waiting for me. It was Laurence, sittign on my bed, "Hey N/A. Where have you been?" Joining him on the bed, I told him about the kitchen duty, "I helped one of the girls in cleaning the floor, counting every crack I could find. I told my dad to fix all the tiles."
I know, you been telling him for years, but you look different today, more pale than usual."
"That is because I found saw a massive crack earlier"
"Is it very bad?"
"Let's say it hasn't been fixed for centuries. Can we please change the subject?"
Laurence seem to have waited for me to say that, "Actually, there is something I need to ask you."
"Go on"
"I need you help at the dinner party" he got closer, "I really, really..."
Backing off, I feared he would make a move on me, as his hand came closer, holding a painting, "...want to find this girl." I knew the painting, "hey, I made that one." He nodded, "And do you remember her?" Of course I knew. She has been my other best friend in my childhood, and the one I just cleaned up the kitchen with, "That is Leona. How can you not see that? We have been friends for a long time."
"That is not the problem; I just haven't seen Leo at the ball. I should tell you this now, but I always had a huge crush on her, but was too scared to ask her out." I didn't blame him, after she refused to enter the hunt balls the last few times. I am surprised that he waited this long, he sure must love her a lot.
"And what do you want from me?"
Laurence held my hand tenderly, "I want you to get her to join the dinner party. It is my last chance to propose to her." It won't be easy, since she was banned from the events by my father. But it wasn't the first time I went behind Norris back, "I give it a try, I can't promise you that it will work."
"You have to be there, since the count might be there to sweep you off your feet."
I had to smile uncomfortable, remembering the flight out the window, "I think he already has. But you know, I really him." Laurence knew by the time he saw us together, not counting the being drunk part. Laurence decided to stay in my room till tonight, sleeping beside me, "I hope he is worth it." I kissed his hand sweet, "I wish you the same with Leona." Now knowing who he has feelings for, I didn't mind him lying beside me like good old times. We talked a little bit of the past, where we three annoyed Norris to the fullest. Afterwards I could sleep like a baby, diving into my childhood memories.
Norris didn't have time for such things.
He was summoned by the ancient vampires to see them before the dinner party. Afterwards, he had to deal with the Dracula family. Mavis and Jonny were already in the lobby, while Drac was still in his room, not feeling well with this situation. Unannounced and without knocking, Norris storms in, "You are supposed to be gone by now!"
"Don't do this to her. Trust me, I know how that feels."
"You know nothing of me or my daughter."
Drac nodded, "True, I don't. But let me tell you one thing. I tried to stop my daughter from loving a human being, only to make her unhappy at the end. Is that what you want?"
"She will forgive me, I am sure."
The count shook his head, "That is what I also thought, hoping that she will be happy without him."
Norris came closer to Drac, "Your daughter was not in danger, but she is. The last time she refused to marry, she almost died. I will not let that happen again. She is precious to me and I do anything to save her." The count understood how he felt; Mavis is just more precious to him than anything else. But he also knows that this will turn ugly. Norris just told him one last time to get a move on, or he will send his staff after him.
Meanwhile, Vlad had finished his shower and ready to get to the morning bar. There, he was greeted by other old vampires. One held up a drink and the other some card, "Hey there Vlad old bat, fancy a game?" Vlad grinned cheeky and sat down at the table, "Always rat bag, prepare to lose." Before they could start, another person entered the room. The old vampires knew who that was, greeting him with respect. Sir Camellay returned it with a single nod, getting closer. His eyes were wandering over the vampires, till he stopped at the last one on the table, "I haven't seen you since the Black Death arrived in England, Vladimir."
