Dracula looked back several times. He cannot believe that another woman in his life was leaving him again. Vlad didn't take the silence as a hint, constantly talking about his past, "Sir Camellay is sure a grumpy old vamp, no wonder he never found a wife of his own...while I was the babe magnet of the group, having one woman on each finger every night hahahaha." His son just ignored it half way, having his own personal moment in mind. One, only one woman was enough for him, but this special someone was meant for someone else.
Mavis and Jonny saw them coming.
The count held out his arms, so his daughter could run into him hugging her father tight. This moment felt like an eternity to Drac, being glad to have such a wonderful daughter. A few minutes later, Anastasia and Franky have arrived at their destination. The rest of the monsters stayed at the house, making dinner for us all. Anastasia was against it at first, seeing Frankenstein damaging her brand new knives in one go or her high quality pots. Franky assured her that everything will be fine, even buying her new supplies late this week. His grin was wide as he waved at the Dracula family, "All aboard!" Curious, Franky looked around for anther face, "...and N/A?"
"She is not coming..." said Drac in a sad tone.
They both knew what that meant, but even so, there was nothing they could do. This place wasn't for humans and I was an exception. Mavis sat beside her father, not letting go of his hand. Suddenly, she was surprised, "Dad, since when do you wear moms ring?" Drac looked at the red gem; his eyes closed slowly, "I always have it with me... in case..."
"In case you found someone special?"
The count nodded. Mavis massaged his hand tenderly, "You really loved her, don't you?"
"More than that honey bat..." he stared out the window, "...she means the world to me...just like your mother had."
My old friends heard it all. Franky stared back to the two, "Didn't you tell her how you feel?"
"She knows...she knows."
"So why isn't she with you? Doesn't she love you back?"
Drac shook his head, saying that it is complicated. Vlad didn't say anything to that, prefer not to make his son more miserable as he already was. Mavis and Jonny promised the count, that they will always be there for him, no matter what. One thing that Drac could always count on was his family.
While mine was falling apart.
Leona got me to the back door, hiding me under a trolley. In a blood red dress, I gave her one last hug, wishing me luck and left into the cold dark night. Laurence gave it one last try, to understand Norris way of thinking. He didn't expect the old vampire to be in his room, staring at a family photo.
"Norris sir?"
"Laurence...what can I do for you?"
The young vampire didn't say anything, until he stood beside the man, pointing at the photo, "Is that N/A?" He nodded, "My little girl. I remember this day like it was yesterday. We sat at the top of the hill while the sun was already behind the mountains." Laurence had never seen Norris like that before, all heartbroken. His eyes were sad, but no tears have fallen, "She told me, how proud she was, of having a father like me. It was the first time she said she loved me."
"Why are you doing this to her then?"
"I have no choice..." said Norris, taking off his shirt, "...the last time she got attacked by the ancient vampire, wasn't her first ..." Laurence eyes widened, seeing an entire body of scared, holes and bite marks, "...they had their eye on her ever since she was a little girl."
"You protected her all this time?"
"The ancient vampires had only moved the hunt balls to my hotel, so they could get closer to N/A. I am getting weak Laurence; I don't know how long I can protect her. That is why I want her to be with you, she trusts you."
"But we don't love each other, not like that."
Norris knew that from the very beginning, but tried to accept this, "Love may grow in time. Please Laurence; take my daughter to your bride." The young vampire didn't answer. He went to the window, only to see the dark woods. Norris joined him, "I know her heart belongs to someone else."
"To Dracula"
"Say Laurence, is he the right man for N/A?"
He couldn't deny it, remembering how I smiled when his name was mentioned. That I didn't hate him for throwing me out the window was also a hint. Norris agreed, "I saw them both kissing. If it wasn't for the danger of the ancient vampires, I would have never..."
"Don't blame yourself for this Sir. Right now, you can still do the right thing."
"And what would that be?"
Laurence didn't want to say it, but answered with a very firm voice, "Call off the marriage."
