Rudra's Pov

"Send me the details Paul," I say on my phone as I walk through my house, I had been here so many times but it felt different staying here forever. I open the bottle of Macallan M and pour myself a drink, I need to feel the burn of the whiskey to make myself feel numb and that's the only thing that helps me sleep anyway.

"Done, I'll make the rest of the arrangements," Paul says back to me as I grunt a yes and cut the call, I walk towards the huge ceiling-to-floor glass wall, and look outside, I was at the top floor where there were no sounds of horns nor there was any light coming unless I walk towards the balcony and look down.

I opened the glass door and sat on the small Swing Chair Siya had put after she had it ordered from somewhere, I hated it at first but after Kanishk had forcefully installed it on my balcony I had no other option than to use it.

I take the glass to my lips and sip it, as I keep the entire bottle beside me, I don't usually take an entire bottle but sometimes when I'm feeling irritated or angry, which is mostly almost daily, I prefer drinking the whole bottle. Anyway, no one going to care what happens to me. Well, except for my brothers but I'm sure they'll understand.

I had been feeling strange since I got back from Kanishk and Siya's six-month anniversary get-together, who even celebrates a six-month anniversary anyway? I even told Kanishk about that but he just glared at me and said I'll understand when I'll get married, as if I would willingly marry someone.

My cell rang, removing the phone from my jeans pocket I looked at the caller and cursed, Nisha Kapoor, my stepmother and the devil of my life. I sometimes think my life would've been so normal if she had not come into my and Dad's life and I would be what a normal healthy man would've been but alas life is cruel.

I was only six when my real mother left me and my dad when she fell in love with my pediatrist, I also heard she had been having an affair with him since I was born but who cares, she left me anyway to go and start a life with some other man, leaving her husband and son alone. I was small, but I wasn't blind to see how much my dad was suffering, not only because my mother had left but also because he used to hear so many taunts and pity coming from all the people around us.

I was seven when my grandfather decided to marry my dad to Nisha Singh, she was the daughter of one of our clients, belonging to a middle-class family, at first, she was a sweet woman, promising to take care of the only child of Harsh Kapoor, my dad, promising that she would never betray my family's trust like my real mother had done and what not. When they got married she was actually sweet to me, I was happy because I could see my dad was happy, he had gotten healthy and used to look more lively than before and she loved me.

After a year she had Anika, my step-sister, and that's when the trouble started, she used to give me less time than before, I understood why, I had no complaints and I was actually happy to have a sister of my own because I always wanted one, Kanishk had Ayaan and I wanted one brother or sister of my own and when Anika was born I was really happy.

But slowly, Nisha Kapoor had started showing her true colors, ignoring me, not letting me near Anika, bad-mouthing me when no one was around, and threatening me saying she would leave my Dad if I said anything to anyone or my Dad. Not letting me have dinner with anyone and sending me off to the room and telling everyone that it was me who didn't want to have dinner with anyone or sometimes it was throwing away my new toys my Dad would get me or break them so that Dad would stop bringing them, she was getting more cruel as the years passed.

She even went as far as not letting me meet my own Dad for a week, but I knew Dad couldn't stay away from me and he came to meet me, she had told Dad I wanted to stay alone so no one could come to meet me when Dad used to travel she didn't even let me talk to him on phone.
