Amayra's Pov

"Wow, what is that?" I ask, looking down at the dish Kanishk has made for Siya.

"It's Chicken Kebab," Kanishk says in a duh tone as I examine the dish.

"Kanishk, I may not be an expert in cooking, but even I know that's not how kebabs are supposed to look," I say poking the dish with a fork as if it might come alive.

I was at Siya and Kanishk's place. After work, I had gone home, and Rudra had gone off somewhere for some work. I was trying to decide what to order for dinner when Kanishk knocked on my door asking for help.

Apparently, he had done something stupid, and Siya was upset. To make it up to her, he decided to cook and surprise her. Siya had to work late tonight, so she wouldn't be home for a while. Since I was the only one around, he decided I should help him. Poor guy didn't realize I can't cook either.

So here we were, in their kitchen, staring at his tragic attempt at chicken kebabs. The chicken pieces look like they've been to war, half of them burnt to a crisp while the others are weirdly slimy.

"I'm sure she'll love them, you made them with so much love, even though half of them are burnt, "I say poking the chicken as I hear Kanishk sigh.

Kanishk lets out a deep sigh, slumping against the counter. "No, you don't get it. She always pretends to like my cooking, but this time I want to make actual edible food," he says. "How about you help me?" he adds, his eyes hopeful.

"Wrong person to ask for help here Kanishk," I say, looking over the cooking book.

But then, an idea pops into my head. If I help Kanishk, I could also practice cooking something for Rudra. After all, if we both mess up, the blame won't be entirely mine. It's like a team effort... in disaster.

"Okay, fine," I say, grabbing an apron and tying it around my waist. "Let's do this. If we're going down, we're going down together," I tell him.

"Wait, seriously?" Kanishk looks surprised. "You're actually going to help?"

"Yep. Think of it as... a double surprise. You get to impress Siya, and I'll try not to poison Rudra. Win-win," I say.

He grins. "Alright, let's do this!"

For the next one and a half hours, we dive into cooking, taking help from a cookbook and YouTube videos. Determined to make kebabs, we follow every step like it's a life-or-death mission. Unfortunately, the kitchen soon looks like a warzone.

Flour is everywhere—on the counter, the floor, and somehow even in our hair. Kanishk burns the onions while attempting to fry them, and I accidentally spill soy sauce all over the counter.

"Kanishk, I really don't think kebabs are supposed to look like this," I say, looking at the sogging awkwardly chopped chicken pieces.

"Hey, at least it's not burnt this time," Kanishk says, just as smoke starts rising from the pan.

"Kanishk! The stove!" I yell, pointing at the tiny flame that's growing behind him.

He jumps into action, trying to put out the flame, and after some chaotic moments, we manage to put out the fire. By the time we're done, we look like extras from a post-apocalyptic movie. Somehow, though, we have two plates of... something that resembles kebabs.
