you swore that you loved me, but where
were the clues? [...] i'm just getting color back
into my face, i'm just mad as hell 'cause i loved
this place.

Hogwarts — June 20, 1991

Nearly two weeks had passed since the incident in Feldcroft's catacombs and one whole month since the final battle against Ranrok. Daisy was exhausted, she had lost at least ten pounds since the two particular events had occurred and, on top of it all, she still had to study for her O.W.L's, one of which was scheduled for that very morning.

Daisy dragged herself out of bed, reluctantly — she had spent yet another night tossing and turning in her sheets, managing to close her eyes only for brief moments before the nightmares about Sebastian and Ranrok would come back to haunt her sleep.

Forty minutes later, she was already sitting at the slytherin table, sipping a cup of black coffee without ever lifting her gaze, hoping to not catch the stares of those who continued gossiping about her and her magic. She truly hoped that by september, everyone would have already forgotten about all of it, but she didn't dare keep her expectations up.

— Hi, darling — a low voice interrupted her thoughts. She lifted her gaze, greeting him with a soft smile before Sebastian wrapped an arm around her shoulders to pull her closer and plant a kiss on her temple.

— Hi.

Sebastian glanced at Daisy —- her once radiant face now reflected the weight of her exhaustion, with dark circles under her eyes growing deeper each day and her complexion turning noticeably paler every time he saw her. She still looked stunning, Merlin only knew Sebastian had never seen a more beautiful girl, but he was becoming increasingly worried about her. She was slowly fading away and Sebastian had no idea what to do to help her.

— Did you eat? — Sebastian inquired, his tone soft yet serious. He had noticed her weight loss and so he had been spending almost every meal watching her, making sure she ate almost everything on her plate before leaving the table.

— I'm drinking coffee — she chuckled, wiggling the cup in front of him. Sebastian rolled his eyes, waving his wand to summon the chocolate muffins on the table and placing one in front of her.

— Darling, you need to eat. Coffee isn't a real meal.

— I'm not able to physically eat before an exam. You know that — she said, her tone softer.

— Daisy, you're too weak, you'll faint before even entering the History of Magic Classroom. For God's sake, eat at least that bloody muffin — Sebastian was growing more impatient at Daisy's stubbornness.

— No need to get so upset — she said, before taking a bite of it. — See?

Sebastian huffed in annoyance, before catching sight of Ominis. His eyes darted a couple of times between Sebastian and Daisy, before quickly looking away from them and taking a spot on the opposite side of the table.

— I guess he's still upset — she mumbled.

— It's unbelievable, really.

Daisy wanted to argue that it wasn't unbelievable at all and that it was a rather common reaction when being involved in a murder you didn't want to take a part of, especially at the hands of your best friend, but she didn't say anything. She was too tired to argue with him. Instead, she took another bite of her muffin, twirling her wand between her fingers as she started rereading the main topics of her exam.
