i feel that if we gave it one more
night, you'd hate me less and make it alright
just wish we could fight now, i'd hold you
on the comedownDaisy woke to the unwelcome yet familiar "hoot" of an owl. Reluctantly, she dragged herself out of bed, the chill of the Scottish autumn immediately seeped into her bones. She muttered a soft curse under her breath and glanced at the clock on her nightstand: 7:03.
She approached the little intruder, only then realizing it wasn't her Hootie but a brown, eagle owl. It took her mere seconds to understand what that meant, and her face went pale.
— Oh, fuck, fuck, fuck.
For a fleeting moment, she considered ignoring the owl and the letter clutched in its beak, just as she often did with her parents' letters. But something inside of her had advised against it. With a resigned sigh, she reached out, her fingers trembling slightly, and took the letter. She gave the owl a gentle caress before watching it disappear into the morning sky.
— What's going on? — asked Anne groggily, sitting up in Daisy's bed. — Who sends the letter?
— My parents. — Daisy replied.
— And... that's a good thing, right?
Daisy chuckled quietly, careful not to wake Imelda that was still sleeping soundly. — I don't know if Ominis ever told you, but families like ours don't usually send letters out of the goodness of their own hearts.
— You mean they never just check in to see how their sons and daughters are doing? — Anne asked, frowning.
Daisy let out another soft laugh. — Nope, — she said, taking a steadying breath before breaking the seal on the letter. As she had suspected, it bore the Rosier family crest.
"Daisy,
We warned you about what would happen if you continued down this path. Since you've ignored our last four letters – and didn't even attend The Malfoy's gala, an event of great importance to our family – we are left with no choice but to intervene.
Your brother Alexander will complete his studies at Hogwarts to monitor your behavior, ensuring you associate with the right people and uphold the Rosier name. The Gaunt family has asked us to keep an eye on their son too, apparently he's as much of a rotten apple on the family tree as you are on ours.
Do not disappoint us again.Michael and Margaret Rosier"
— I can't fucking believe it — she said, loudly enough to wake Imelda too.
— What does it say? — Anne asked, now concerned about her friend's reaction.
— My brother... he's coming to Hogwarts.
— As a first year? Isn't it a bit late for that?
— No, not as a first year... he was studying at Durmstrang, but my parents convinced him to graduate here to keep a closer eye on me. I have to tell Ominis about this.
And so she did: after she quickly dressed herself into her uniform and fixed her appearance to appear somewhat decent, she instantly grabbed her robe to shield herself from the cold of the dungeons and left the room. She found herself, for the second time in just a few days –and that was ironic enough, considering she had managed to avoid that very corridor for the entire past year –, walking to Sebastian and Ominis' dorm room.
She quickly knocked on it, her other hand firmly grabbing the letter she had just received.
— Daisy? What the..? — Sebastian said surprised, once he opened the door. She only spared him so much as a glance, before calling for Ominis.
