Bertie: I'll catch up with them or bust! Oh my gears and axles! I'll never be the same bus again!
Bertie Struggled up the hill.
Jean-Luc: Hooray! I can see him! We're at the top!
Bertie: Hooray indeed! Oh dear, he's at the station! No, he's stopped at a level crossing! Hooray, we might just make it!
Passengers: Well done, Bertie! Go for it!
Bertie skidded into the bus yard. He was just in time to see Edward Puff away.
Bertie: Wait! Wait! Oh bother! *to the passengers* I'm sorry everyone. Edward and Indy have left without us.
Passengers: Never mind, Bertie. Let's get back after them quickly! Third time lucky, you know! Jean-Luc, do you think we'll catch him at the next station?
Jean-Luc: There's a good chance. Our road runs really close to the railway and we can climb hills better than Edward. I'll just make sure.
He spoke to the stationmaster. Bertie and the passengers waited impatiently.
Jean-Luc: Mai oui! (Oh yes!) We'll do it this time! *excitedly hops into his seat*
Passengers: Hooray!
Bertie chased after Edward and Indy Once more.
Jean-Luc: *singing* Allez, Allez, Allez! Allez, allez, allez! (Come on, come on, come on!) We're going to catch that train!
Edward: *grunting as he climbed a hill* This hill is too steep! This hill is too steep! *his whistle blowing*
They reached the top at last and sailed smoothly into the station.
Edward: *whistles as they stop at the station* Get in Quickly, Please!
Mr. Conductor blew his whistle, and Indy looked, back. But the flag didn't wave. Then she heard Bertie. Everything seemed to happen at once, and the Stationmaster told Indy and Mr. C what had happened.
Edward: I'm sorry about the chase, boys and girls. But sometimes, even engines have to hurry. *smiles warmly*
Bertie: My fault. Late at junction. You didn't know about Thomas's passengers.
Edward: Goodbye, Bertie! We're off! *whistles as he leaves the station*
Passengers: Three cheers for Bertie and Jean-Luc for trying so hard!
With that, Mr. Conductor's story ended, leaving Thomas and Bluey feeling a mix of excitement and empathy for Bertie's predicament.
Thomas: And Bertie told me all was well. I am grateful to him for keeping his promise to us.
Bluey: So am I. Jean-Luc and Bertie are very good friends, indeed. *winks*
