The next morning rolls by and Matt woke us up at 8am, all of us still packed into the cafeteria like sardines. The three of us took the corner near a window, a little bit away from everyone else. I rubbed my eyes as I sat up, groggy from my medication and in desperate need of caffeine. I wanted to sleep in more, but with everyone else at Wammy's waking up that was impossible.

The kids around were a little less scared now with some daylight shining in, and they all sat with their friends eating, chatting and laughing. The power still wasn't back on, but with all the windows around it made it bright inside. Breakfast and coffee was being served, bought from a nearby diner but my appetite was non existent so I just grabbed some coffee. I grabbed some for Mello and brought it over to him, and I sat back down in the blankets to get warm. The cafeteria was fucking freezing, and sleeping on the floor absolutely destroyed my back.

"Thanks, Wil." Mello said, taking a sip and smiling down at the cup.

"How'd you sleep?" Matt asked, taking a bite of his toast.

"Well, my back fucking hurts and I'm freezing." I shivered, sipping my coffee and desperate for some warmth. Mello grabbed a hoodie out of his bag and handed it to me, and I threw it on quickly. It was soft and black, a little oversized but that's how I liked my hoodies. Plus, it smelled like him.

Cops were still all around the orphanage, but there was no sight of B anywhere. Not a fucking trace that he was even around, and the lack of cameras in town didn't exactly help my statement. They believed me anyways, but with no physical evidence that he was around the cops couldn't exactly do much aside from guard the damn place.

They even took Ronnie's statement, and his story matched mine completely. Matt and Mello had to provide theirs, telling them that we think we had been seeing him lurking around at night in the shadows. But again, we seen nothing more than a shadow and it 'could've been anyone'.

L was taking it seriously, as were Roger and Watari. They made it clear we weren't allowed to leave, and we needed someone with us pretty much at all times. Buddy system was in check, and the three of us were conjoined at the hip. That part made me feel better, but I was still extremely on edge. I was scared, thinking of all the things B did to those people..and the fact that he took an interest in me specifically made me scared for my fucking life.

Maybe his goal wasn't to kill me, maybe he only wanted to scare me and then leave. But that didn't make sense, he had to have a fucking motive. He wouldn't just come back for shits and giggles, that wasn't his style. B wanted L's attention, and his way of getting it was through me and the orphanage. He was envious of L, and smarter than all of the kids here combined.

When he was still at Wammy's, he grew attached to L. Extremely attached, to say the least. If someone got close to him, he'd pry and get jealous because it wasn't him. He didn't like that he was second to L, and he literally wanted to be him. He was more unstable than I was, if anyone needed antipsychotics it was his fucking psycho ass. He was a compulsive individual and would do quite literally anything to get his way.

The Los Angeles murders were intense, and while L kept most of the gruesome details to himself I knew bits and pieces of what he had done. Brutal fucking torture, the kind you see in underground snuff films. L tried to avoid the details so it didn't scare me more, but he wanted to know the danger that I was in.

He killed a girl around my age.

I zoned out while the boys ate, bad thoughts running through my mind at light speed. I remembered I was supposed to have coffee with Near that morning, and I looked around the cafeteria to see if he was inside and there he was, talking with L by the doors. They both looked over in my direction, to which I replied by flipping them off with both fingers. I could almost hear their sighs from across the room, and I laughed to myself. They knew I was joking, and they were used to it at that point.
