I made breakfast and thought about everything that happened yesterday. I was proud of myself for finally standing up to my mom and thankful that Luz and the Owl Lady took me in despite what I did. One single tear ran down my right cheek, I didn't deserve this. I decided to help with chores here, it was the least I could have done for them. I heard someone entering the kitchen, I turned around and saw Luz. She said:"Morning.","Good morning Luz, breakfast is almost ready.","You made breakfast?","Yup, I made pancakes.","Pancakes are a thing here?","Yes, you wanna have a coffee?","Uhm, yes. That would be nice.","You wanna have sugar in it?","Yes, thank you." Luz answered as I handed her the cup. She took a sip and said:"Thanks again.","No problem." I said as Luz sat down. I asked:"So, what are going to do today?","I'm not sure, aside from...well...telling Skara about the potion. What about you? Don't you need to go to school?","Oh no, I don't. The weekend on the Boiling Isles is one day longer than on earth.","Okay, what do you wanna do then?","Well, I thought about going shopping. I still got several snails." I said and the Owl Lady and King came in the kitchen. Luz said:"You look like shit.","Ugh, I'm never going to drink hard apple blood again.","Ha! Heard that a million times before.","Just shut up King.","Good morning Mrs Owl Lady.","You can call me Eda.","Okay, you wanna have a coffee aswell?","Fuck, yes.","You want sugar?","No.","Alright, here you go.","Thanks Kiddo." Eda said and sat down next to Luz. King asked:"And I don't get a coffee?","You're too young.","Unfair.","Sit down and don't annoy me.","Fine." King said and sat down aswell. I brought everyone their pancakes and sat down. Eda said after rubbing her eyes:"I just noticed that you wear my shirt.","Oh, yes. I ne-","Good pick, you got style." Eda said and interrupted me while pointing with finger guns. I said:"Thank you, I hope you don't mind that I borrowed it.","No, not all.","Okay, thanks again." I said and we ate the pancakes. After that, Luz and Eda left to get changed. In the meantime, me and King washed the dishes. Eda came back and said:"Thanks for cleaning the dishes.","No problem Eda, I like to help.","Damn, taking teens under my wing really starts to pay off." Eda said wich made me chuckle. She then said:"Well, if you need me, I'm bathing Hooty now.","Should I help you?","No, thanks.","You're sure?","Trust me, you don't wanna bath Hooty.","It can't be that bad.","See this?" Eda asked and showed a scar on her right arm. I nodded and she said:"Got that the last time I tried to bath him.","Oh...is there anything else I can do?","Not really, laundry maybe.","Okay, I'll do that next.","Thanks." Eda said and left again. I asked:"King, do you wanna help me?","Usually I would have said no, but you asked so nicely. I'll help you.","Let's go then." I said and we did the laundry. I noticed that Luz had been absent for a while, she was probably talking with Skara. I was hoping that she was alright. As I bent down to pick up some clothes, my contact lenses fell out. I said:"Fuck.","What's wrong?","My contact lenses fell out.","Oh, let me help you look-oh, sorry." King said as he accidently stepped on them. I asked:"It's okay, do you have glasses here?","Hm, I'm not sure. Just wait here while I look for some." King answered and left, I sat down on the floor and waited. King returned after five minutes with glasses that had a purple frame. He said:"Try these.", and handed me the glasses. I nodded and put them on. I said:"That should work, thank you.","No problem, let's get done with the laundry now.","Speaking about it, do you know what's the deal with Luz's beanie? I mean she wears it all the time, except when she's sleeping.","How do you know that?" King asked and I instantly blushed. I said:"Just forget about it.","Whatever." King said and shrugged his shoulders. We then finished laundry and I sat down on the couch, I was pretty exhausted which was no surprise considering that I barely slept. Eda walked inside and looked pretty battered. She said:"Ah, finally done.","So you managed to bath Hooty?","Yup.","That's good to hear.","Yeah, I need a shower now tho." Eda said and walked away.

After several minutes, Luz came back. I stood up and asked:"How did it go?","Not tha-you're wearing glasses. Why are you wearing glasses?","My contact lenses fell out and King accidently stepped on them.","Oh, they look nice on you.","Thanks, but how did it go?","Right, it wasn't that bad.","Really?","Yes, I think the effect of the potion starts to wear off. She was sad tho, which is understandable.","You think she will be alright?","I'm sure she will. We also decided to stay friends and I offered her to be there for her if she needs me.","That's good, I'll go shopping now.","Okay, hope you find something.","Thanks." I said as I walked out. I walked to the town and my first stop was at a boutique. I noticed some people looking at me shocked or in a strange way, but I ignored it. Usually my mom dictated what I would wear, but now I was able to make my own choices. I settled on a pink button down shirt with short sleeves, a black tie, fishnet gloves, black cut off denim shorts, fishnet stockings and black boots with studs. I tried everything on walked out of the changing room. I looked at myself in the mirror, I really liked this look. I bought the clothes and then got myself a earring. I always wanted one, but my mom forbade it. I got a black earring on my right ear and decided to head back to the Owl House. I then got the idea to buy Luz a gift. On the surface it appeared as if we were getting along, but there was still a certain tension. Aside from that, a gift might cheer her up after the whole thing with Skara. I already had a idea for what I could buy her. I went to a store to buy Luz a new beanie. The one she had was pretty worn out. I didn't understand what the deal was with it anyways, she always wore the beanie in school on earth. She even wore it during pe. I was wondering what was so special about it. I got a beanie that was purple and then decided to go back. When I arrived, I immediately wanted to give Luz the beanie. I looked for her, but couldn't find her. I found Eda in the kitchen making herself a sandwich. I asked:"Hey, you know where Luz is?","She's hanging out with that girl with glasses. I think Willow is her name.","Okay." I said and brought my clothes to Luz's room. I then went to the living room and sat down on the couch. I was still tired and fell asleep. I woke up to luz constantly saying my name and poking in my face. I opened my eyes and saw Luz right in front of me, she said:"You're finally awake.", I started to blush right away. I asked:"How long was I asleep?","I dunno, I just came back. Did you find something while shop-is that a earring?","Yes, I also got something for you.","Really?","Yep, if you just wait here a second." I answered as I stood up to get the beanie. I held it behind my back and walked back to the living room. I said:"Close your eyes.","Okay." Luz said and closed her eyes. I carefully took her beanie off and put the new one on. I held the old beanie behind my back and said:"Open your eyes.","Where is it?","Look in a mirror." I answered and Luz took a hand mirror that was lying around and looked in it. She looked at me and asked:"You bought me a new beanie?","Yeah, your old one looked pretty worn down. I thought you might like a new one.","Well, thank you. It looks nice, but I rather stick to my old one.","You don't like it.","No...it's just...that old beanie means a lot to me.","In which way?" I asked and noticed Luz that frowned and stayed silent. I said:"It's okay. If you feel uncomfortable talking about, then you don't need too.","Let's just say that it means much to me.","Oh, I didn't know. I guess that I'll return the new one.","No! I mean...I could switch between the two.","You're sure?","Yes. It was so kind of you. Would be unfair to reject this gift.","I didn't know that your beanie meant so much to you. I would have gotten something different for you.","No, this is perfect. Thank you." Luz said and hugged me which made me blush again. I didn't know how to react, I just stood there until she let me go. I asked:"You wanna see my new outfit?","Sure.","Alright, wait here a moment." I said and went to Luz's room to get changed, then walked back in the living room. I asked:"What do you think?","Not bad, not bad.","Okay, don't downplay it. You like it, admit it.","In your dreams." Luz said and we chuckled. I was wondering if there actually was any tension between us or if it was just me. I got tired of thinking about this and simply asked:"Luz, can we talk in your room?","Yes, sure." Luz answered and we headed to her room. After she closed the door, Luz asked:"So, what's the matter?","I was wondering how things are between us. I mean it seems as if we are getting along so far, but I have this feeling as if there's a certain tension between us.","Okay and what makes you think that there's a tension between us?","It's just that I treated you horribly and want to make it up to you. I want you to like me and I have doubts that you will." I answered and looked down. Tears ran down my face and Luz put a hand on my shoulder, I looked up and saw Luz looking at me with a comforting smile. She wiped the tears away and said:"Don't worry Amity. Yes you treated me bad, but it doesn't mean that I won't forgive you.","Really?","Yes, I just need some time to adjust to all of this. Aside from that, you didn't only treated me terrible. You were also kind to me like when you stood up for me or when you comforted me last night and not to mention your gift. You're genuinely trying to be a better person and I think it pays off.","Thank you Luz. I have to say that I really like the person I am now, the person I used to be.","What do you mean?","Well, I wasn't always a bitch. I used to be very kind and caring. My mom basically turned me into a mini version of her.","This sounds really shitty.","I know, I'm glad that I was able stand up to her. I'm alsonglad that I'm becoming my own person.","Yes it definitely. Wait, what's that?" Luz asked as she noticed my failed drawing. She picked it up and asked:"Did you draw this?","Yeah, I know it looks terrible.","Actually, this looks beautiful.","Come on, you gotta be kidding me.","No. I mean it's not perfect, but it looks good. I like it the way it is.","Really?","Yep, I'll hang it up on the wall.","Well, thank you.","You know, I could give you a drawing lesson if you want to become better.","That would be nice.","Okay, let's go downstairs." Luz said and took papers and a pencil. She left the room and I noticed that I still had Luz's beanie. I looked around sniffed it. Luz came back and asked:"Are you coming?", I blushed and stuttered:"Y-yes.", I felt completely emberrassed and followed Luz downstairs...
