Just a stranger?

Days have turned into weeks, and I can't shake the feeling that something is off. I know I need to be smarter, so I've started devising a solid plan. However, there's something strange about this guy, Perkins. What could be behind his secrets? I have to keep an eye on him, just in case.

Something's not right. As the days pass, I've noticed that Onceler usually sits alone at his desk, surrounded by stacks of papers. I feel a hint of concern for him, but maybe what Perkins said is bothering him. I decide to approach him. Instead of flirting or trying to win him over, I think I should be a friend he can trust.

But how will I gain his trust?

As I near his office, I hear voices coming from within. It sounds like an important meeting.

"I have files on some reports from the employees," says a familiar voice-Katherine, her tone slightly stern.

"Go on," Onceler replies, his voice low and rumbling.

I lean against the wall, eavesdropping to gather information about what's happening. I can hear the sound of papers-most likely the files Katherine mentioned.

"These reports show a significant drop in productivity across several departments," Katherine continues, her voice laced with urgency. "It's been happening for weeks now, and I'm starting to get worried."

Onceler looks up, his eyes meeting Katherine's. "I'm aware of the situation," he says, his voice tight. "But I need more information before I can make any decisions."

"What about Perkins?" Katherine asks, her voice dropping to a whisper.

I strain to hear Onceler's reply, but the voices grow fainter. I want to lean closer, but that would make me seem like a stalker. "No, no, no, Y/N! Behave yourself; you're not like this," I think anxiously. I step back, biting my nails and pondering what to do when suddenly I hear footsteps approaching. A familiar figure comes into view-it's Perkins, tucking in his shirt with bodyguards at his side. My brow furrows as I prepare to follow him, but just then, the door creaks open. I jump back, startled, and stumble into the hallway.

Katherine adjusts her glasses, her gaze meeting mine. Her eyebrows shoot up in surprise.

"Uh... hi, Miss Katherine," I say awkwardly, standing in front of her.

"Y/N? What are you doing here?"

"Uh... I... I was just... looking for the restroom," I stammer, my voice betraying my nervousness. My mind races to concoct a believable excuse. "I got lost."

Katherine's expression remains skeptical. "The restrooms are down the hall, on the left," she says flatly but kindly.

"Right! Right, I forgot! Haha..." I reply, pretending to be clueless, stretching my arms and back. "Thanks!"

Katherine nods silently, her smile warm as I smile back nervously. The silence feels heavy, so I decide to break the ice.

"Well! My back hurts now; I'm going to the bathroom! Haha," I pretended, hoping my excuse would keep me from being caught eavesdropping. This might be my chance to look for Perkins.

"Of course, Y/N. Go ahead, take care, alright?" she says with a warm smile.

"Thanks, Katherine! I'll head down the hallway; see you!" I wave as I leave.

I hurried downstairs, trying to maintain a stern expression. "Well... that was a smart move, Y/N... yet dumb," I think to myself. I consider checking in on Onceler, but my thoughts are consumed by Perkins. I can't let him slip away. Confronting him directly isn't the right approach-I need to know more. But how? My instincts scream at me to follow Perkins to unravel the mystery surrounding him, but reason holds me back. I can't risk exposing myself, not yet. I need a plan-a way to gather information without raising suspicion.
