Manager, and the other man, had been working on a new Fredbear's Family Diner; the one he adored and cherished. A replacement, and a subject Goldie knew all too well. He shouldn't have expected anything else from what he'd been told of the company's work. It's what they always do, he reminded himself, a scoff parting his mouth. Oddly, Goldie was sure Fredbear knew it too. He rolled his eyes at the thought of the others' encouragement when it came to the matter. At least he knew they would all be replaced, eventually.
"My, then it must be true." Fredbear sighed, a paw on his cheek in disillusionment. Goldie stared at the ground, something resentful rising in him, the mutual recognition between them obvious as they turned away from the countertop.
But what the animatronic bears didn't hear, what neither of them could've heard, was the word that only began to slip out from between the shadow man's grin. It sounded distrustfully somewhere between "walled-off" and "basement." One could only be so sure if they listened close enough.
Suddenly, the ceiling lights ruptured, rays disintegrating as if they'd never been installed, and both bears startled as the walls quaked.
The office room's texture briskly faded away, replaced by a pattern too similar to glaring, colorful television static, peeling at anything in sight like a contamination that spread at lethal pace. Both men were swept from existence before the static could overtake them, the manager's face dissipating from any line of view. Goldie jumped, hurriedly reaching out to clutch at Fredbear as much as possible, terrified as the static creeped through shuttered blinds. They watched how the radio interfering pattern corroded across the ceiling above them, messy white noise filling the entire room. He felt the larger bear cradle him back, securely, but squeezed his eyes tight before the dream wholly ceased to obtain coherent form, a vortex collapsing into itself that crushed anything in sight. All Goldie could scream everyplace in his mind's reach as the room came crashing down was: Please wake up...!
And then, he felt solid, hollow carpeting under his feet instead of linoleum flooring. And then, he heard a soft, near unnoticeable lullaby in his ears he could never retrace.
"...I'm sure that must've been quite unpleasant, little bear." There was Fredbear's voice, and his comforting hold. "Although, you can open your eyes now," Goldie heard him say, a hint of laughter in his tone. Hesitantly he peered through half-open eyes to see...that they were surrounded by pillars and doors once again. The golden bear breathed a sigh of relief, ignoring the standing point that he, yet again, was not awake.
"Oh, thank pizza..." He buried his face into a metal body, and felt a paw rub at the back of his head soothingly. Goldie relaxed into the touch—
Until he remembered he was practically clinging onto Fredbear for dear life. Stumbling back, he collected himself, brushing off the fact in exchange for a fix of his angular purple bowtie.
"Ah–" Fredbear started, registering how fast Goldie had scrambled out of his embrace. Completely stunned, his mouth puckered to signal his shock as Goldie hurried his excuse.
"D-Don't mind me! I got a little carried away, t-that's all!" He forced a nervous chuckle, flustered at how inviting the older bear's touch had felt. Fredbear's arms were still suspended in mid-air. Surprise flashed across his face, but quickly melted into a fond smile.
"Well, that's quite alright," Fredbear said, his poise radiating warmth. There was a pause between them, Goldie mulling over the situation when Fredbear spoke again."But, you understand now? What happened after that night?" The older bear questioned gently. Of course, Goldie knew. The owners had agreed to reconstitute Fredbear's—and Fredbear himself—as soon as humanly possible after such a plight the half-rabbit half-man had induced.
"Yes, I do." Goldie mumbled, acknowledging his resentment towards the grown-up's bizarre decisions. Fredbear moved closer again, bending down to Goldie's level, and was content that the other bear shifted near to listen.
