The Child Without A Name (novel series I'm working on) oneshots

basically just Zok trying to keep the little sanity the gods (including himself) has left while everyone is celebrating Ailr's death

[Zok's P.O.V.]

I walked away, still shaking after what I did. I saw the others, and approached them. 

"What the hell happened to you?" Geran asked. "Yeah. You're all fucked up." Ridd added. "Wait, did you finally beat Ailr's ass!?" "Wha- no- I mean... In a way, I guess..." I responded. "What do you mean by 'in a way'?" Loux questioned. "She... She's dead..." I said. The room was silent for a few seconds before Stratus spoke. "About damn time." 

*At Ailr's funeral*

"We've all gathered here today to celebrate the death of our creator (me rn:🫥✌️) and hater." Azthe said at the altar. "Azthe. This is a funeral. Not a celebration." I said. "Come on, Zok. It's not a funeral if there's no fun." Azthe replied. "Look. Even Cheesecake is happy about this!" She pointed at his cat, who was running around in circles and meowing. "... Fair point." I said. "Honestly, I don't think any of us has had this much fun in a long time." Ridd spoke. "I mean, the wolf dude is sober for once. That's honestly impressive." 

"You got any more of these?" Leveret asked, holding up a breezer. "Damn. You already finished that?" Lucien asked while handing him another one. "I gotta get my camera, this shit will give good blackmail." "No. Not today. We're celebrating our dad's first big kill." "Ugh! Fine."

"Can I have one?" Cil asked. Lucien looked at him with an amused expression before starting to speak. "Yeah. Of cour-" "No." I interupted as I picked Cil up. "Why noootttt?" Cil whined. "That's a grown-up drink. It messes with your mind." I answered. Cil whined against my shoulder. "You can get soda instead." I said. "Yay! Soda!"

The first thing I saw in the fridge was drunk Wold holding a beer. We stared at each other for a few seconds, before Cil spoke. "Why are you taking so long?" He looked in the fridge. "Oh. Hi Wold." He said. "Hey kid." Wold replied before giving him a can of soda. Cil happily walked away with the soda. "I have a feeling this isn't the first time..." I said. "Nah. The kid always finds me when I'm stuck in the fridge." Wold answered. "I meant you being in the fridge, but that would explain why he was so casual about this." "When you can't find me, I'm either with Geran or in a fridge." Wold said. "Alright." I mumbled before closing the fridge.

I heard a thud, and turned around to see Ars down on the ground. "Oh my gods! Ars, are you okay!?" I asked, kneeling down next to him. He looked up at me with a grin. "Never been better." He said before reaching out his hands towards me. I grabbed him under his arms, and picked him up. "I love you so much dad-" "What did you drink?" I interupted. "Whaaat? Drink? Nonesense! I'm a good boy." Ars replied. I looked at him with a serious expresion until he eventually gave in. "Geran gave me beer." He mumbled. I sighed as I walked towards the couch. "Of course he did." I said while laying Ars down on the couch. "Loux! Can you watch over Ars for a few minutes?" I asked Loux. "I can sit next to him, but I can't exactly watch him." She replied. "Right. Just- could you just make sure he doesn't get in trouble?" "Sure."

I walked around to look for Geran, and eventually ended up finding him smoking something outside. "Geran!" I spoke. "Hm? Oh. Sup?" He replied. "Did you give Ars beer!?" I questioned. "Gee. Stop yelling. Yeah, I gave him some." He said. "He is a child!" I yelled. "He's almost 500 years older than Ridd. Relax." He explained. "His body and mind are the ones of a 15 year old! You should't be giving him- wait, why are you so calm? Are you high?" I asked. "Am I what?" He asked. "High." I replied. "... Hi." "Oh my gods. You are high. I'm not dealing with this right now." I sighed before leaving.

When I walked inside, I noticed Alioth asleep on the stairs. I sat down next to him, and pet his hair. "Well, how about that. You managed to fall asleep even with all that noise..." I mumbled before picking him up, and carrying him up the stairs.

When I got to the second floor, Buddy, who was resting hext to the stairs, noticed me, and started following me to Alioth's room. I placed Alioth in his bed, and Buddy jumped on the bed with them. I was about to leave them alone, but I felt Buddy grabbing my arm with his jaw. He didn't bite hard enough for it to hurt, but he made it clear that he wanted me to stay. 

"What's wrong, Buddy?" I asked quietly as I sat down on the bed. Buddy dragged me further onto the bed. "You want me to sleep here with you two?" Buddy let go of my arm, and nodded. "Alright then. I guess I'm a bit tired. But only until you've fallen asleep tho, okay?" I sighed before laying down, and wrapping my arms around Buddy. 

*A little while later*

[Ridd's P.O.V.]

I was chilling on the couch, watching over Ars with Loux, until Cil walked up to me. "Where is Zok?" He asked. I thought for a few seconds. "I don't know, actually. I haven't seen him in a while." I said. "Maybe we should look for him." Loux spoke. "Yeah. What if he's hurt or lost?" Azthe added. "Though, he'd probably need a few drinks for those to happen, but still." Azthe picked up their cat, Loux picked up Ars, and the four of us started to look for Zok. 

After a while, we walked into Alioth's room, and saw Zok, Alioth, and Buddy sleeping on the bed. Cil exitedly ran to the bed and climbed on. "Buddy!" He shouted as he hugged the dog, waking him up. "Cil. Don't yell. They're sleeping." I said quietly. "Sorry." Cil whispered. 

Azthe walked towards the bed, laid down on it, and moved Alioth on top of her. "What are you doing?" I asked. "I'm tired." He replied while taking his glasses off, and putting them on the bedside table. "I guess we'll just all do a cuddle bundle." Loux said while walking to the bed, and laying laying down on the bed with Ars still in her arms. I stood there for a few seconds. "Alright then. Why not?" I walked to the bed, and laid down with everyone else.
