A few weeks had passed since Anna’s birthday party,  and Shana had been living in a state of self-imposed exile.  She’d taken some time off work,  spent a lot of time alone,  and tried to focus on her own needs.

She’d listened to her friends,  taking their advice to heart.  She’d tried to slow down,  to give herself permission to feel,  to heal.  But she couldn’t escape the guilt and remorse that she felt towards Anna.

She knew that she’d made a mistake,  that she’d hurt her friend.  And she wanted to make things right.

She’d tried to reach out to Anna,  but she’d been met with silence.  Anna hadn’t answered her calls,  she hadn’t responded to her texts,  she’d blocked her on social media.  It felt like a wall had been erected between them,  an invisible barrier that she couldn’t penetrate.

She knew that she couldn’t force Anna to forgive her.  But she wanted to try,  to make an effort,  to show her that she was sorry.

Shana took a deep breath,  her fingers trembling as she typed a message.  “Anna,  I’m so sorry,” she wrote.  “I know I messed up.  I hurt you.  And I’m truly sorry.  I know that words aren’t enough,  but I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.”

She hit send,  her heart pounding in her chest.  She didn’t expect a response,  but she knew that she had to try.  She had to let Anna know that she was sorry,  that she cared.

Shana waited,  her heart pounding in her chest.  She’d sent the message,  and now all she could do was wait.  She wasn’t expecting a response,  but she hoped that Anna would give her a chance to apologize,  to try to make things right.

Minutes ticked by,  and then her phone buzzed,  a notification flashing on the screen.  Shana’s heart skipped a beat.  It was Anna.

“Let’s meet,”  Anna’s message read.  “The coffee shop near the park,  in an hour.”

Shana’s heart soared.  Anna was willing to talk.  She was willing to give Shana a chance.

Shana quickly got ready,  her heart filled with a mixture of hope and trepidation.  She didn’t know what to expect,  but she was ready to try.  She was ready to face Anna,  to apologize.

Shana arrived at the coffee shop,  her heart pounding in her chest.  She’d been dreading this moment,  but also anticipating it.  She’d been carrying around so much guilt and remorse,  and she knew that she needed to face Anna,  to apologize.

Anna was already sitting at a table near the window,  her gaze fixed on her phone.  As Shana approached,  Anna looked up,  her eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and anger.

“Shana,”  Anna said,  her voice a little shaky.  “I’m glad you came.”

Shana took a deep breath,  her hands trembling.  “Anna,  I’m so sorry,”  she said,  her voice filled with remorse.  “I know I hurt you.  I betrayed your trust.  And I’m truly sorry.”

She looked at Anna,  her eyes pleading for forgiveness.  “I was so caught up in my own issues,  in my own drama”

Anna listened to Shana’s apology,  her eyes filled with tears.  She could see the sincerity in Shana’s voice,  the genuine remorse.  She knew that Shana had hurt her,  but she also knew that Shana was a good person,  that she’d made a mistake,  that she was truly sorry.

“Shana,  I know you’re sorry,”  Anna said,  her voice soft.  “I know you didn’t mean to hurt me.  But I’m still hurt.  And I’m still angry.  It takes time to heal.  And I need some time to process this."
