The wedding...
The grand ballroom of the luxurious venue was bathed in soft golden light, the chandelier hanging above like a constellation of diamonds.
Guests whispered in hushed tones, their eyes trained on the elegant surroundings as the moment drew closer.
The air was thick with anticipation, this wasn’t just any wedding, but the union of two powerful families, two forces colliding in a marriage of convenience that everyone knew was more than meets the eye.
Jisoo stood in the bridal suite, her reflection gazing back at her through the full-length mirror. The intricate lace of her dress caught the light with every movement, a masterpiece of design, but she felt like she was wearing a mask.
Her heart was heavy, the weight of the situation pressing on her chest, but she forced herself to look poised. The dress, the tiara, the bouquet, everything was perfect, just as it should be for a woman of her status.
But none of it was real. The man waiting for her down the aisle wasn’t the one she loved, and this wedding wasn’t the one she’d dreamed of. Yet, she had made her choice.
Her aunt stood beside her, tears gleaming in her eyes as she adjusted Jisoo’s veil. “You look absolutely breathtaking, Jisoo. Taehyung won’t be able to take his eyes off of you.”
Jisoo smiled faintly, but there was no excitement in her expression, just a carefully maintained calm. “Thank you,” she replied, her voice steady despite the storm raging within her.
The soft sound of a knock interrupted the quiet tension in the room. Jisoo turned, and her heart skipped a beat as she saw the figure standing at the door.
It was Taehyung, dressed in a sharp black suit with a white shirt beneath, looking every bit the CEO he was. His dark eyes met hers across the room, and for a moment, time seemed to stop.
There was an unspoken understanding between them, a quiet acknowledgment that this was a pact, not a union of love.
But in that brief second, Jisoo saw something flicker in his eyes. Something that might have been regret, or perhaps confusion. But it was fleeting, replaced by the cold exterior that he had perfected over the years.
He stepped into the room, his posture straight, his demeanor as calm and composed as ever. “Are you ready?” he asked, his voice a quiet rasp.
Jisoo’s fingers tightened around the bouquet in her hands, but she nodded. “I’m ready.”
Without another word, Taehyung stepped closer, his presence both commanding and distant. For a moment, they stood facing each other in the silence, neither knowing what to say.
The weight of their situation hung between them, and yet there was a strange kind of connection.
“I’ll walk you down the aisle,” Taehyung murmured, his words carrying more than just the formality of the moment.
Jisoo met his gaze, her eyes searching his face for any sign of what lay beneath. But there was nothing. Just the cold mask of the man she had been forced into this marriage with.
“Thank you,” she whispered, though the words felt hollow.
As they exited the room and made their way down the hallway toward the ballroom, Jisoo’s mind raced. This was it. This was the culmination of everything she had been working toward.
She had spent years preparing for this, but now, as the moment finally arrived, she felt like a pawn in a game she had never agreed to play.
The music began to play softly, the violins filling the air with a haunting melody.
