Random things

(sorry my writing is bad im kind of depressed right now and these two make me happy so i'm trying to write about them au contraire de sitting around and doing nothing also sorry i messed up my own AU's lore they met in third grade, re-met in fifth became friends in sixth or seventh grade and now they're in high school ig BAHAHA )

Peridot and Lapis sat outside in the park near Peridot's house. Lapis sat on the grass but Peridot was slouched over a bench beside her. She didn't want to go in the grass because it probably had bugs and things. Lapis, on the other hand, didn't worry about things like that. "Hey, something just came to me." Lapis' voice broke the comfortable silence. Peridot turned over towards her with interest. "Remember when we first met?" "Yes." Peridot answered quickly and intently. "We were in the third grade and I thought you were new so I wanted to be friends with you before anyone else could. But...I was really bad at it." "I hated you for years. I thought you were an annoying twerp."

"Alright, Lapis, 'twerp' cannot possibly fit into genius." Peridot hesitated. "I...guess I did brag a lot. I remember when I tried to show you that I was so smart I could move things with my mind." "You couldn't." "I'M TELLING YOU IT MOVED A BIT-"

Peridot sighed and stared off into the neighborhood she'd grown up with as a breeze came and went. "You're right though. I didn't really know how to socialize and probably came off horribly. I did just want to impress you though. Honestly, about socializing and making overall impressions- it's still the same...CLODSICLES I'm sorry I just realized I've been rambling again, haven't I-" "Peridot." Lapis stopped her, and she could hear a smile in her voice. "If you came off so horribly, why am I friends with you now?" "Because I invited you over so you could watch on my CPH DVD set in middle school and you had nowhere else to watch it and didn't own a DVD player." "And you think I've just been leeching off your DVDs all this time?" Lapis said, now sitting down on the bench too. Peridot blushed and muttered something before replying, still without letting their eyes meet. "Well, no."

"And what was that you said about wanting to impress me?" Lapis said. Now it was her turn to blush. "I...didn't know that."  "Well, I mean, you're...cool." Peridot mumbled somewhat shyly.

Lapis snorted and broke into giggles. "Peri, I'm not cool, I'm just depressed.." Peridot shrugged. "Well, some would say that you're at least cooler than me.  And I mean the textbook definition of cool is attractive and non-chalant and stuff..." "W-well so are you." "...Wow, thanks."

They finally turned to look at each other. And for a couple seconds, they just stared.

"I have something to tell you" Lapis' low and urgent voice collided with Peridot's shrill blurt as they both said the same thing. "O-oh? What do you have to tell me?" Peridot asked Lapis.

"...What were you gonna say?" Lapis inquired instead of replying.

"Lapis I..." Peridot bit her lip with anxiety. She didn't believe Lapis would ever feel the same, she couldn't believe she'd even started this. "I...y-you know..." she started to stutter, trying to change the subject.

"Wanna go out?" Lapis broke the fucking ice.

"Lapis, we're already outside." Peridot sputtered, breaking into a confused smile as she looked back over at her.

"No! Like..." Lapis trailed off, trying to compose herself. "Like Percy and Pierre in that one fanart." She finally said, her voice cracking with an embarrassment she usually succeeded in concealing.

Peridot immediately started giggling uncontrollably. "Y-you're joking right..?" She asked, as she wiped away her happy tears. Her voice broke as they turned into sad ones. "You're joking... and now you know... and now we're not gonna be friends anymore..." She sobbed before covering her face up as more tears streamed down her face. Lapis had never seen Peridot have a breakdown before, but she immediately resorted to pulling her into a hug anyway. "It's not a joke..." she whispered. "Yes it is!!" Peridot protested weakly. "I know, I know..."  "Why do you care? Do you feel the same then?" Lapis inquired, though she felt selfish for even asking this. "...fine, I'll ruin my stupid stupid plan and say it that yes yes yes yes I'm in love with you!!" She cried out finally.

"And you think I'm joking?" Lapis asked, starting to smile again. Peridot met her eyes and sighed. "Maybe...probably maybe..."
And then Lapis pulled her in by the shoulders and kissed her.

"GYAHAHAHAHAAHA I FUCKING CALLED IT!!!" Amethyst's voice yelled out. A flustered Lapis and Peridot turned to look at Amethyst and Pearl, who had been watching from the sidewalk for who knows how long. Pearl sighed and placed a 20 dollar bill into amethyst's outstretched hand. "Yes, yes, you get your...bucks." Amethyst continued giggling as she shoved it into her pocket. "So are you guys dating or what?" She called out. "Yeah..." Lapis called back nervously, and Peridot started to smile giddily at that. She...was dating her?! Lapis looked back over at Peridot once Amethyst and Pearl were out of earshot. "still think I'm joking?" Peridot sighed dreamily as she looked into Lapis' beautiful blue eyes. "No..."

Okay this turned out more nostalgic cringy than I thought but I still love it, hate all you want XD
