Under the V.E.I.L:Book 1

Lena:

We had a conference meeting today. Mr King held it and had an important announcement. Everyone was seated and waiting for Mr King.Liam was sat next to me. Mr King had cleared Liam's name and he was finally able to roam around without having to worry about anything. Mr King entered the podium and the chatter stopped.

"Good evening everyone. I would like to thank you all for being here. I would like to begin by saying that everything I will tell you now has been deeply thought about and it is final." He paused,looking around the room before resting his eyes on Liam."I would like to start by apologising to Agent Kaya. I had labelled him a traitor unjustly and for the hard work and sacrifice he has done for V.E.I.L, he doesn't deserve to be neglected by us. All charges against you are dismissed Agent Kaya. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me for the grave misjudgment I have made."He looks right at Liam. His posture relaxes and he looks relieved.

I give him my hand under the table and he gives it a tight squeeze.
"Secondly I would like to talk about an issue that has happened and has been hidden. Several years ago, a man called Tyrique King had massacred many former agents at V.E.I.L. In a few days we will be holding a memorial service for those agents who were killed unjustly. The same man had been plotting against our agents by carrying out kidnappings and attempted murder. However with the help of Agent Mendoza,Agent Hawke and Agent Kaya, they have defeated him and have saved many lives. And for that I would like to present the three of them with an award for their bravery and dedication."Everyone starts applauding and looks at the three of us expecting us to get up. We get up from our seats and walk to the stage.

He hands the three of us a gold plaque set on a base.
We thank him and get off the stage.

"Thirdly, we have recruited a new agent that had been really helpful in the process of saving multiple lives. He has been struggling for years under the control of Tyrique and we want to give him a new beginning. A better life. Agent Zahr. Please come forward."Jason walks onto the podium with his newly provided uniform.

"Agent Zahr. Your dedication and bravery in the recent events has shown me that V.E.I.L needs an agent like you. So it is my honour to offer you a formal position with V.E.I.L."

"Thank you sir."He says nervously.
Jason gets a trophy and walks off the stage.

"Lastly,the most important part of this conference meeting, I'm stepping down as head." The room fills with chatter. "I'm passing the position to my son, Elijah King, who I hope will lead the business with good intentions and good judgment. I have been apart of V.E.I.L for 22 years and I think it is time I give someone else the chance to lead the company."

The room fills with applause.Mr King walks off the stage and everyone gets up from their seats. We walk towards the door and attempt to leave when Mr King's assistant approaches us.
"Mr King would like to speak with you three."We all look at each other confused.

We walk to his office which had multiple boxes. His office was empty. But it wasn't just him in the office. The same man who answered the door when we went to his house. Probably his son.He was packing the last of the items and saw us three.

"Elijah, these are V.E.I.Ls best agents Liam Kaya,Lena Mendoza and William Hawke."Elijah came and shook our hands without speaking much. "They'll be helping you settle in."We stood there awkwardly. "Elijah if you could excuse us for a second that would be great."Elijah gives a court nod and steps out.

"Before I head out, I owe you three an apology . Especially you,Liam. I put you all in danger by disclosing information to him. And for that I would like you three to know how sorry I really am. I don't expect you to forgive me after everything but I hope you know that if I had a choice I would've never put you in that position."I was mad at him. I was mad at him for framing Liam and make him run for something he never done. I was mad at him for helping Tyrique crash a car into us. But his actions were only done because of fear. Fear was something I lived under my whole life. And when I understood his situation it was hard to stay angry at him.
Which is why I chose to forgive him. We all chose to forgive him.

"We forgive you sir."Liam says to him. His response brings Mr King by surprise.
"What happened to you wasn't fair sir. Your own brother had done terrible things to you and you didn't deserve it. If I didn't forgive you then that would make me feel like a terrible person."He smiles.

"That makes me glad. And William. I heard about the discovery of your name. Would you still like to be addressed as William? I'll update the system if you like."William shakes his head.
"Thats not necessary sir. I would like to be addressed as William. Everyone I know should continue to address me as William. I'm not ready to change everything."He had made this decision recently and I understood it. He grew up his whole life being called William and he couldn't just throw it away.

"I respect that. Thank you for everything. For your forgiveness and loyalty.I hope you'll work well with Elijah and continue to make V.E.I.L a better place."

We shake his hand and leave his office.
And that was the last time we would see him.
