Villain's Origins || A Twist in Time [Boku no Hero Academia Villain Au Book 1]

Hitoshi's POV:

Denki, Shoto, Touya and I were training outdoors for once, deciding we needed to spend some time away from the League before we got used to being around villains. If we did, we might end up doing bad things on instinct rather than out of necessity at one point. We're technically on the heroes team, even if Touya is on the hero team temporarily, so we couldn't let that happen.

    The four us had gone to the beach to unwind after our training session and we were now playing beach volleyball. We call it beach volleyball, but no one had actually scored yet because of how competitive we all were. We all refused to lose.

    Something had been weighing on my mind a lot that morning and it wasn't long before I blurt it out without thinking. "Have you guys ever thought about how much our morals have changed ever since we met the boss?" Touya slips on the sand when he hears this and we win a point because of it.

    Shoto holds out a hand to help his brother up and Touya looks at me with furrowed brows. "You're not having second thoughts, are you? Is it because he's been killing off a lot of the old members lately? For the record, those members were child traffickers-"

"No, no! Definitely not, that's not what I meant at all and those people got what they deserved for the things they'd done.." I rub the back of my neck, thinking of my dad and my sister. We'd been having a lot of family fun time for a while now and every time I look at them, I can't help but feel guilty for what I do.

   Shoto picks up the volleyball and serves it in my direction. "Then, what do you mean? Has something been on your mind lately?" I hit the ball lightly to toss it to Denki, who hits it back in their direction. The back and forth began.

"It's nothing much.. I guess I was just thinking about how risky it is. We commit crimes when it's necessary and we know Izumura does some pretty fucked up stuff.." As we're playing volleyball, our moves become a bit slower to give more attention to the conversation.

   Denki receives the ball and tosses it over the net before glancing at me for a moment. "Babe, we all knew this before we agreed to pledge our loyalty to him. The boss has his reasons and we know him better than anyone else does.. Why are you suddenly bringing this up?"

   I sigh, receiving the ball Touya hit but I catch it instead of sending it back. I wanted to open up about this to someone, and they're the only ones I trust to do so. "I mean, none of you have much to lose because your parents are under Izumura's thumb, but.." I hesitate, choosing my words carefully. I wanted them to understand that I was still on their side, despite the anxiety I felt right now. "..I found out my dad is actually a teacher at U.A. and it made me think- I'll be in deep shit if he ever finds out what I've been up to.. I finally have a dad who genuinely cares about me.. and I really want to set a good example for my little sister.."

   The three of them look at each other before looking at me again. Shoto and Touya walk under the net to our side of the court and I begin to feel anxious. None of them say anything, which gave me a little more time to explain myself.

"I don't know.. I mean, I really care about you guys. I know we may be a group of villains on the surface but you guys are family to me." Another sigh escapes me as I glare down at the volleyball in my hands. "I just want to do what's right- and siding with you guys is what feels right to me- but.. I just don't want to let anybody down.."

   They all look at each other again and the silence was killing me. Even so, I meant what I said. Compared to them, I had so much more to lose. I have a little sister now who looks up to me and Deku. She sees us as her heroes. I also have a dad who's a well known pro hero, who wouldn't look at me the same if he knew about what I do.
