Percy sat on the couch, staring blankly at the ceiling like it held all the answers to her rapidly spiraling life. She exhaled sharply, her voice flat, devoid of all emotion.
Percy: dead inside "I'm seventeen. I have finals next month. And I'm pregnant with Chaos's child."
Across the room, Chaos sat in his usual seat at the kitchen table, flipping through a newspaper as if this wasn't the most catastrophic thing to ever happen. He didn't even look up.
Chaos: turning a page "Yes."
Percy slowly turned her head to look at him, disbelief clear in her expression.
Percy: emphasizing every word "I'm seventeen."
Chaos finally glanced up, raising an eyebrow.
Chaos: nodding "Yes, you said that already."
Percy sat up abruptly, throwing her hands in the air.
Percy: exasperated "I'm in high school, Chaos!"
Chaos: taking a slow sip of his coffee "Yes, and?"
Percy gaped at him, momentarily speechless.
Percy: gesturing wildly "And I shouldn't be having a kid before I even get my diploma!"
Chaos: shrugging, unbothered "You mortals reproduce early. I am simply adapting to your customs."
Percy squeezed her eyes shut, inhaled through her nose, and pinched the bridge of her nose so hard it was a miracle she didn't break it.
Percy: muttering "That's not—ugh! That's not how this works."
Chaos leaned back in his chair, tilting his head at her like she was the one being unreasonable.
Chaos: raising an eyebrow "And yet, here we are."
Percy groaned, flopping back onto the couch dramatically.
Percy: muffled into a pillow "I need to reevaluate my entire life."
Chaos smirked, setting his newspaper down.
Chaos: amused "You should have done that before sleeping with me."
Percy immediately launched a pillow at his face.
Chaos: catching it effortlessly "Violence will not change the past, Persephone."
Percy: scowling "It makes me feel better, though."
Chaos: grinning "Ah, so emotional outbursts are common in mortal pregnancy?"
Percy: glowering "No. That's just you."
Chaos merely chuckled, sipping his coffee again like he wasn't the biggest mistake of her entire existence.
