It wasn't uncommon for Percy to take naps now that she was six months pregnant. She'd adjusted to the exhaustion that came with growing a whole human inside her, but sometimes, it hit her like a tidal wave out of nowhere.
One moment, she was flipping through an old mythology book—half-interested, half-distracted—and the next, her head was tilting dangerously to the side, her blinks getting slower and longer.
Chaos: watching her, amused "You're falling asleep with the book open."
Percy mumbled something incoherent, something that might've been a protest but sounded more like an exhausted sigh. The book slipped from her hands, landing with a soft thud on the couch beside her. She shifted instinctively, curling up against the cushions, too far gone to care.
Chaos didn't move at first, just observing. His expression was unreadable, but the way his gaze lingered on her—on the way she exhaled so softly, her body instinctively seeking warmth—made it clear he wasn't as indifferent as he pretended to be.
With an almost reluctant sigh, he stood, grabbing the blanket draped over the back of the couch. He shook it out once before carefully tucking it around her, making sure she was warm.
Chaos: softly, as he adjusted the blanket "Rest, Percy. You need it. The world can wait."
Percy stirred at his voice, her face scrunching slightly before her eyes fluttered half-open.
Percy: murmuring "You're being oddly nice today."
Chaos smirked, settling back down beside her, arms folded behind his head.
Chaos: "Pregnancy's a delicate process. I'm just taking notes."
Percy made a soft, amused noise, already drifting back to sleep.
Silence settled over them, the only sounds being the rhythmic hum of the heater and the faint rustling of the city outside.
A few minutes passed.
Then—
Percy: groggy, eyes still closed "...You're not actually writing notes, are you?"
Chaos tilted his head toward her, eyes gleaming mischievously.
Chaos: "Would you like me to?"
Percy groaned, burrowing deeper into the blanket.
Percy: "No."
Chaos smirked but said nothing, letting her drift off.
It was peaceful.
For about ten minutes.
Then Percy suddenly tensed, her hands gripping the blanket as she sat up in alarm.
Percy: panicked "Wait—was I supposed to be studying?!"
Chaos, completely unfazed, glanced at her like she'd just asked if the sun was still in the sky.
Chaos: "Percy, you finished your finals two weeks ago."
Percy blinked. Her brain, still half-asleep, struggled to catch up.
Percy: "...Oh."
She flopped back down instantly, letting out a relieved sigh.
Percy: muffled "Never mind. False alarm."
Chaos chuckled, shaking his head.
Chaos: dryly "If you ever become a goddess, your domains will include stress, naps, and misdirected panic."
Percy peeked out from under the blanket, shooting him a glare.
Percy: "And yours would be smugness."
Chaos only smirked wider.
He didn't deny it
