My eyes snapped open as I was jolted awake, sensing the ground beneath me trembling. I reached out, trying to make sense of the darkness surrounding me. After a moment of fumbling, I realized I was confined in a metal cage which was moving upwards.

The rhythmic clanking of gears rang into my ears, sending my heart racing with fear. Where was I? What was going on? Panic began to set in, intensifying until the cage suddenly came to a halt, catching me off guard.

For a brief moment, a peaceful silence enveloped me, allowing me to relax until the cage I was confined in suddenly opened from above. My heart raced once more as I gazed up at the bright opening, the sun's rays blinding me. Gasps of surprise echoed from above me then the metal box vibrated, signaling the arrival of something or someone from above.

A shadow cast over me, blocking the harsh sunlight, and as I looked up, I found myself face to face with a boy who appeared to be my age. His messy blond hair and gentle hazel eyes captivated me.

He extended his hand towards me and I hesitated momentarily before finally reaching out and grasping it. With a swift motion, the boy helped me to my feet, his small grin never leaving his face. "You're quite the intriguing Greenie," he remarked, his thick British accent catching me off guard.

I was still too shocked from what had just happened to speak, then another person jumped down beside the boy and I. "What a pleasant surprise," the newcomer exclaimed, "I call dibs!"

A voice from above quickly intervened, "George, keep your hands off her."

George chuckled, "Just kidding, no harm done."

The blond boy gave George a disapproving look before introducing himself. "My name is Newt," he said, gesturing towards the other boys. "And the one cracking jokes here is George."

George greeted me with a wave, "Nice to meet ya', Greenie."

Then Newt pointed to the boy at the top of the cage, "And that's Alby."

I remained silent even after the introductions, causing three of the boys to stare at me. George was the first to break the silence, "I think we've got a mute." He said flatly.

Alby disagreed, shaking his head. "No, I bet she can speak." He said, "We all handle the shock of first arriving here in different ways."

Newt's smile suddenly widened, "Even if you're stuck bawling your bloody eyes out to cope with it." he said, as he crossed his arms.

"How'd you know that?" George questioned, whipping his head around. "You came up after me..." he trailed off, his eyes darting to Alby who stuck his hands up in the air, trying to appear innocent.

George sighed as he shrugged off the conversation, although the ghost of a smile began to creep onto his face.

"W-Where am I?" I finally managed to say, causing Alby to smile.

"And I was right," he said, gesturing towards George, who was grinning.

Newt turned to me, "You're in the Glade," he said, then asked me a question, "Do you know your name?"

For a moment I thought, then panic set in as I realized I had no recollection of my name or where I came from. "I don't remember anything..."

Newt nodded sympathetically. "That's normal, Greenie," he said, trying to reassure me. "It happens to all of us, but sooner than later, we all remember our names."

I sighed, hoping he was right. Then Alby looked over at something in the distance then back to me, "We'd better introduce you to the other boys." he said, as George began to jump out of the box.

I began to nod until I realized that Alby had just said boys. "Wait, aren't there any girls here?"

Newt helped me out of the box, "You're the first," he said, as he finally got himself out.

"Wait, what?" I said, shock all the more evident in my voice.

Alby nodded with a grin, "Welcome to your new life in the Glade, Greenie."
