Not long after Chinami had crossed, Momo came running through, Kyouka hot on her trail. The four all stood and congratulated one another for passing, Kayama having just announced that the top 42 players were to go onto the next round. Right now, they were all waiting patiently for the next round to be revealed. Having watched previous years of the sports festival, Chinami was aware that the three rounds of the sports festival were broken up into three sections: individual - meant to get rid of a large percentage of the students, team - groups ranging from 2 to 10 over the past few years that team up to move on to the final round, and then one on one battles - possibly the most hyped, and re-watched on YouTube, round out of them all.
Kayama did her big speech, building up the anticipation for the next trial, spinning the wheel that seemed to go on forever.
"Cavalry battle!" Cried the hero, cracking her whip in excitement. She'd been hosting the first year sports festival since she began teaching at UA and she had to say, Cavalry battle was one of her favourite. It was also greatly unknown as previous years, unlike this one, not many people watch the first year festival. After all, the third and second years are closer to leaving to become pros, the only reason this year's festival was being so heavily watched is due to the media reach that 1-A gained.
"Oh, I'm not good at these..." Sighed Kaminari, already looking dejected. Kirishima placed an understanding hand onto his shoulder shaking his own head.
Tokoyami stepped forward, arms folded.
"I wonder how this will work." He commented, Asui nodding besides him."Yeah, it's a difficult one- ribbit."
Chinami watched nervously as Kayama's fist tightened, her face visibly sour. Yet, the onslaught of statements and questions from the watching students kept coming till; the deafening sound of her whip cracked through the air, silencing everyone.
"If you all would shut up and let me speak, you'll know how this is going to work!" She yelled, staring at the shocked students with anger. Silence remained for an uncomfortable period of time before Kayama sighed and then put her sickly slime back onto her face.
"This will be composed of groups ranging from 2-4, each group must have one rider! Every student will have gained a point value based on the results of the first round, each team will have a headband to be worn by the rider with a total of that team's points!" She began to explain, pointing to the board above. "Starting from the person who came in last, the points will go up in multiples of 5! So, 5, 10, 15... You get the gist. The higher your placing the more points you earned!"
Murmurs came from the crowd, nodding in understandment.
"The points earned for first place are as such; 10 million!"
On queue, everyone shot their heads in the direction of a certain green haired male, his face paling in worry.
"What can I say, those at the top here at UA will suffer the most!" Laughed the hero, pointing mockingly at the boy in question. Chinami could only feel sorry for him, there was no way anyone was going to team with him now! They'd be automatic fish bate!
"To win, you must steal and wear the headbands of those from other teams, increasing your own score! But, there are a few rules first." She paced back and forth across the stage, building anticipation. She really was a fiend for drama.
"The game itself will last 15 minutes. As you know, your teams total will be shown on your headband! Any stolen headbands must be worn from the neck upwards. But get this! If your head band is stolen or your teams fall in place, that doesn't mean you can't continue. For the rest of the game you still have the chance to steal back some points."
Momo hummed in thought next to Chinami, placing her hand on her chin.
"So it's anyone's game, then?"
Kyouka nodded."Looks like it."
Behind them, Sato chimed in, taking Chinami by surprise. She hadn't noticed he was there before now. Honestly, she hadn't even heard him speak before...
"42 of us are through too so that means there'll be 10 or 12 teams. Tough game." He looked quite nervous, although Chinami wasn't sure why. Despite not having spoken to the guy before, she knew vaguely of his quirk and it was quite strong.
"It going to be a rough battle so feel free to use your quirks to your hearts content! But there are still rules. Make a team fall on purpose and you're out! And, if your rider touches the ground, it's bye bye!"
That immediately made some people feel better, no dirty play was going to be a problem. Well, people other than Katsuki who was now grumbling curses under his breath.
"You have 15 minutes to form your teams! I'd get started now!" Midnight announced, opening up her arms. Students began running to their friends or people they thought would be useful, some of her own classmates already discussing teams.
Chinami, for once in her life, didn't have the problem of finding a team. There were already four of them.
"So, guess I'm stuck with you losers then huh?" Groaned Katsuki, looking at them all in distaste. Although, if he really didn't want to be there he wouldn't, so his hard act was no use.
"Stop acting like we aren't the only people who will put up with your ass." Kyouka snickered, obviously trying to get a rise out of the blonde.
Katsuki simply turned his head to look behind him, multiple of their classmates calling his name, asking him to be part of their team. Even a couple random 'extras' as he'd call them, were trying to get his attention.
"You see these losers?" He stated simply, making Momo let out a rather rare laugh before she composed herself.
The four spent the rest of their time strategising, discussing who would go where. Given the nature of their quirks, three out of four of them needed their hands within use, only Kyouka not needing them.
In the end, they'd decided Katsuki would be the rider, his explosive quirk and personality being a bit too dangerous and unpredictable to have when carrying someone. Being shorter, Kyouka and Chinami were going to be at the front and Momo was at the back. Kyouka could also project her heart beat for Chinami to create sound waves so it was a good mix.
Looking around, Chinami had began to notice how real things were starting to get. For a start, the first round had been standard, just an extremely dramatic obstacle course is all. Doing something so familiar wasn't that scary. Not only that, but it had been out of the eyes of the stadium, to some extent; in the way that they could see her, but she couldn't see them. She couldn't see the extreme enough of people all staring down at her, and Lord knows Chinami hated attention.
As such, it was unfortunate that her teams rider loved it so much. Katsuki had been growling at anyone who even looked in their direction, making a real good name for himself. Well, as good as it can get for someone like him. It wasn't going unnoticed by Mic either, the pro announcing how 'rabid' and 'violent' Katsuki could be and that his team would definitely be one to watch in the upcoming round. Great.
There were three minutes remaining. Three minutes until possible millions of people would be watching her fight. Three minutes for her to prepare. Three minutes for her to get serious. Three minutes before she was to do what she had wanted, no, needed to do this whole time. Her whole life.
Win.

A/N:Sorry for the shorter chapter today!!! I still haven't had the time to sit down and plan out teams and such for this round, given the teaming is completely different due to the friendships and stuff. Also Mei is too important to cut out of this round so I gotta figure out who I'm getting rid of in place of Chinami!!!!
Anyway, hope you enjoyed this little chapter!!
It is Christmas soon though so updates may be varied, I've got an early Christmas with my mom's side of the family next weekend so I'll be busy then. Beauty of divorced parents. I'll see what I can get done anyway!
