A Part Of It (Avengers)

Chapter 59

"How long do you think it will take me to collect all the stones and be able to bring everyone back?" I asked him, and he again scratched the back of his head.

"With the time travel and the fact that time is different everywhere, I will say around 3 to 5 years." that's when my jaw dropped, a tear sliding down my cheek.

"So what? I am supposed to leave all my friends behind and not tell them about everything that will happen? They will hate me for not helping and taking down Thanos as soon as I can. They know all the powers I have, they will never forgive me for abandoning them." I said, as I was now crying hysterically, feeling a panic attack coming.

"They will understand when everything is over, when everyone will be saved. You need to do this, you need to let Thanos come and do what he needs to do in order for you to restore everything else." he said again, I almost felt like he was lecturing me, but I knew that all he was saying was important.

"Here." he said, opening his necklace and showing me the time stone. He took it in his hands and placed it in my open palm.

Instantly the rush of power coming from the stone invaded my body, it's like I could feel the stone in my veins, like my mind, heart and soul was feeding off the stone. I looked at the mirror that was on the wall beside me and could see my whole body glowing this emerald green, my eyes green as well. Soon the glow started to fade and I was back to being my normal self.

"You absorbed the power of the stone, at least part of it. You now will have the ability that the stone has. It will help you in your time travel." he said, as if it was the most normal thing in the world. I only nodded, not knowing what to say anymore.

"Just remember you are the key to everything." he said and yet again, I nodded, not entirely sure I was believing him at all. 

"Now, let me teach you how to make those portals." he said, trying to lighten the mood, but it didn't do much at all. The weight of all that he had told me almost suffocating me. 

The tree had told me that I was important, that I had a purpose, but that is so far beyond what I thought.

"Can I at least let them know of what is to come? And what if I disappear also? What then?" I asked desperately, he shook his head.

"Mia, no, you can't tell them, and you won't disappear, believe me, you're too strong to succumb to anything Thanos does to the world." he said, his words were final, I was to keep my mouth shut.

I was a loss for words, I needed air, I needed to get away from here. I placed my hands in front of me and practiced the circle motion I had seen Stephen do, and surely enough a portal appeared, and it would lead me exactly at the front of the compound. I look behind me and Stephen had some sort of smile on his face.

"Believe in yourself, you just proved me now how capable you are. You will be the one we need to save us. Don't give up on yourself and don't give up on us." he said, below a whisper, before I could pass through the portal, he called my name and handed me a piece of paper.

"I shouldn't give you this, but I want you to be able to find those stones as soon as possible. Keep this hidden somewhere and don't lose it." he said sternly, I nodded and folded the piece of paper twice before putting it in my pocket.

"Be prepared to hide when the time comes, he cannot know you're here." he tells me as I was passing through the portal. I turned quickly and yelled.

"What is that supposed to mean, where should I hide?" but I didn't get an answer as the portal closed behind me, and that's when I lost it, I yelled, so loudly I had to put a protection around me so no-one would hear.
