Chapter 8

"This prank is just getting started." DAMIEN closes his eyes and sits back trying to get comfortable.

"I don't think it's a prank anymore." JAKE tells him "What if it's something much more complex."

"What no that's impossible." AMARI's eyes widen.

"Chill out babe, you should be more relaxed." DAMIEN puts his hand behind her, touching her left shoulder.

"Get you hand off of her or else." REYNA says through gritted teeth.

"Or what? Are you jealous? Oi JAKE move over." he pushes his friend.

"Can you just be serious for tonight?" JAKE answers angrily.

"Come on man I was just joking. Since you got that girlfriend of yours you've been so uptight."

"That's not true. I am the same as before." DAMIEN just shakes his head and looks around with his hand above his eyes. "Where are you? I can't see you anywhere?" JAKE punches him in his arm lightly and DAMIEN fake massages the spot.

REYNA looks over at the two but doesn't want to participate in any of their antics. JAKE catches her gaze but they just look at each other for a few seconds before REYNA shifts towards the center of the room.

Some more shuffling is heard from the auditorium door.
"More company?" DAMIEN whispers.
The door is open and it reveals TRISTAN who protectively holds LILY behind him.

"You are both here too?" REYNA asks as she looks at the two. LILY waves at both her girl friends and TRISTAN scans the room for any possible thread.

They both go up to the formed group but decide to stay in the column opposite from them, not wanting to disturb them by going past. LILY sits first as TRISTAN holds a protective arm in front of her.

"The only thing that surprises me is that you're here." TRISTAN says as he extends his head to look at AMARI. The girl just shrugs her shoulders.
"Not my normal cup of coffee." the response earns a few giggles but they disappear in the dark night.

"I just hope this is over soon. Mom doesn't know I am here." LILY says as she looks around the room.

"It's fine I'm going to take you back home." the boy gives her a reassuring smile.

"And how on earth did you two end up together at this hour?" REYNA smirks at them and leans over.

"Hey don't assume stuff." TRISTAN raises his hands. "She just texted me if I wanted to come."

"And he said yes because I wanted to." LILY smiles at him.

"Ok I just puked." REYNA leaned back on her chair and looked over at JAKE who was looking at her too. The girl got up and started going to the center of the room, the stage.

"Be careful." AMARI says from her chair, REYNA offers her a thumbs up but still looks around.
She notices something in the corner of her eye, right below the stage. At this point everyone besides DAMIEN got up, looking curious at her every move.

She lowers herself and goes to pick up something that seems like a moving present. It was a red sparkly box that had a gold bow on top, she carefully removes the bow and opens the box.
