Once Steve had stopped crying the two got up and solemnly moved on to the next door. At this point they were at door 029. They kept making their way collecting a substantial amount of research on their way.

"Hey with all this research we can buy Sebastian out."

Sam said, trying to lighten the mood. Nothing seemed to work and the two moved on silently. After some time they reached a room with two doors that read 038.

"Hey!!"

Steve said face lighting up

"One of the people who had gone on multiple runs when we died to pandemonium said sometimes there were fake doors, and you could tell if they were fake by listening for breathing before opening the door or if one sparked."

Sam nodded and went over to the one door that had the navi A.I. mark on it. He could hear loud breathing and soft growls and when he looked up the screen with the numbers sparked. They both went over to the other door and opened it. They were safe for now. They came across a room eventually that had the same red remote Sam remembered from their first run.

"Hey Steve!! You should press the button"

"No way that thing was way freaky i was hoping i'd never see that damn remote ever again"

Sam just laughed and pressed the button himself. He kind of liked the little red thing she spoke at random but it was nice company in the lonely halls of the blacksite.

"Like why dude that thing is soooooo freaky and the fact that she says that weird stuff too. When I pressed the button she said "it's crawling all over you" no no no!!!"

Steve said almost perfectly portraying the imaginary friend's British accent.

"Oh stop being such a wuss"

Sam said, proceeding to open the next door. The room was large and there were windows to the outside underwater world. What looked like a shark with multiple green eyes swam up to the window and Sam had an uncontrollable urge to look at it. The shark then perfectly replicated the HQ's voice in his head.

"Look into my eyes. Do you not want to see them again? You can't unless you look into my eyes!! Look into them!!"

Sam's mind flashed to his younger sister and his mother and father. If he died here he would never see them again. Sam dared gaze at the shark and felt a brain numbing sensation. It was calming at first but it grew into an intense throbbing pain. He tried to look away and found it extremely difficult. Steve was lying on the floor and Sam ignored it as he tried to open the next door. He succeeded and rushed over to Steve as the shark had left. Sam knelt near Steve and propped his head up.

"Steve? Are you good?"

Sam said panicked

"It said I could see her again if I looked into its eyes. I fell for it sam i'm.. i'm ... sorr"

Steve's head lolled to the side and took one last shallow breath. Sam stood up and found himself dizzy with a throbbing headache. He was curious as to how the shark did that but he did not want to really find out. He moved on now solo against the dangers of the blacksite. Sam soon felt fatigued and noticed he was bleeding from one nostril. Nevertheless he continued on door after door after door. Soon Sam came to door 049 and found himself taking a rest on the floor. It felt amazing. Why not just sit here for a bit and wait for the spell to be over? Sam thought to himself. Then he realised how close he was to Sebastian and there he could get a med kit. He trudged on and his vision became blurry as a vent door came flying off and Sebastian began.

"Running low on supplies?"

Sam stumbled into the vent and collapsed on the floor as he made it to Sebastian's little shop.

"Oh bloody hell"

Sebastian exclaimed before Sam fell into a swirling pool of darkness.
