"You're going to get yourself killed!" I yelled, swinging to dodge a kick from the Female Titan. "Your squad is gone, Levi! You don't have to do this alone!"
His jaw tightened, but he didn't argue. Below us, Eren was struggling, his Titan form taking heavy hits as he fought to keep the Female Titan occupied. The sheer power she displayed was overwhelming, but neither Levi nor I let up.
The battle raged on, the two of us moving in synchronized tandem to keep her off-balance. For the first time, it felt like we were truly fighting together, not against each other. And for now, that was enough.
Eren roared in defiance, but his Titan form crumbled under the relentless assault of the Female Titan. Blood and steam hissed into the air as she seized him, prying him out of his Titan body with brutal efficiency. Before Levi or I could react, she opened her mouth and shoved Eren inside, her movements deliberate and horrifying.
"No!" I shouted, launching forward with my ODM gear, but I was blown back by the deafening scream that erupted from her. The sheer force of it sent Levi and me flying into the nearby trees, the vibrations rattling my very core.
As I regained my footing, I saw her massive figure retreating through the forest, her every step shaking the ground.
Mikasa Ackerman came from nowhere, her rage palpable. Her blades were drawn, and her intent was clear-she was going after Eren. She zipped through the air with unparalleled speed, her ODM gear propelling her forward with terrifying precision.
"Mikasa!" Levi barked, intercepting her mid-air. His own gear brought him in front of her, blocking her path. She glared at him, her obsidian eyes filled with fury.
"Move!" she hissed. "I have to save him!"
Levi's voice was calm but firm, a stark contrast to Mikasa's desperation. "Ackerman, calm the hell down."
"Calm down?!" Mikasa spat, attempting to maneuver around him. "She has Eren! If you think I'm just going to-"
"You'll die." Levi's tone sharpened, cutting through her anger. "Going after her now is suicide. Think, Mikasa. We need a plan. We will get him back, but not if you lose yourself first."
Mikasa's breathing was heavy, her blades trembling in her hands. For a moment, it seemed like she might push past him anyway. But then she dropped to the ground, her frustration manifesting in a frustrated punch to the dirt.
Levi landed next to her, his posture rigid as always, his face unreadable. "This isn't over. But if you want to help him, you need to stay alive. Understand?"
She nodded reluctantly, though her fists were still clenched tightly. I watched the exchange in silence, my heart heavy. Eren was gone, and the Female Titan had won this round.
But Levi was right-we couldn't act recklessly. There was still hope, even if it felt like it was slipping away with every second she disappeared further into the forest.
I landed beside Mikasa, placing a hand gently on her shoulder as she knelt on the ground, her fists buried in the dirt. "Hey," I said softly, trying to meet her gaze. "It's alright. We'll save Eren, okay? We won't let him down."
She looked up at me, her expression still fierce but tinged with something softer-sympathy, maybe even gratitude. She didn't know me well, and we'd barely exchanged words before, but in this moment, I could see she was holding onto my words like a lifeline.
"You mean that?" Mikasa asked, her voice quiet but edged with doubt.
"I wouldn't say it if I didn't," I replied firmly. "Eren's important to you-and to all of us. We'll find a way to get him back. But we need to stick together."
