Later that day, Elliot decided to investigate the attic. Armed with his Nerf gun and a flashlight, he declared, “There’s treasure up there. I can feel it.”
“What you’re feeling is dust,” Emma replied, scrolling on her phone.
Elliot ignored her and climbed the ladder. After digging through boxes labeled “Ron’s College Phase” (which included a tie-dye shirt and a broken guitar), he found an old, dusty letter.
“Guys!” Elliot yelled, sliding down the ladder dramatically. “I found a SECRET!”
The family gathered as he read aloud: “To the rightful heirs of the Duchy of Montridge…”
“Wait, are we… royal?” Emma asked, suddenly interested.
Grandma June squinted at the letter. “Royal? Sounds fishy. I’ve seen better scams during my time in the Cold War.”
“I KNEW we were special!” Ron exclaimed, already Googling “how to act royal.”
Margo sighed. “Ron, this is probably just junk mail from the 1800s.”
But the Porters weren’t convinced. They decided to trace their "royal lineage,” much to June’s suspicion.
