A Second Chance

At the top floor of Fortune group's building. 

In a big luxurious office, Hayden is busy reading his files. His assistant David knocks the door before entering. "Boss. Here the file you asked for." He says and hand over the file to him. He nods his head. The assistance leaves him alone and walk out of office.

Alone in the office, Hayden place the file in his hand on the desk and lean back on his chair. He closes his eyes, memories of him and Sophia comes in his mind, after seeing her today. She look more beautiful than she was 5 years ago. 

The memories of their youthful college romance floods his mind. From Sophia pursing him to confessing their feelings to holding her hand for the first time to kissing for the first time to their first. They did many things together. 

In each memory he could see Sophia's bright smile. Her sparkling eyes. Her genuine love until the graduation day.

5 years ago.

Graduation day.

Every student wearing black robe with black hat with a degree on their hand. Some student were busy taking photos with their friends. Some were getting emotional as they are leaving the college. Some promising each other to stay in contact with each other. Some talking to their teachers. 

Sophia, Hayden and their friends formed a  semicircle to look the view in front of them.

"I'm gonna miss college days." Sophia's friend, Daisy says. 

"Me too." Sophia says and hold her best friends hand. 

"Girls, come on. Stop being so emotional." Ron says. 

"Stop it. It's their moment. Don't interpret them." Donald says, Daisy's boyfriend. Like Donald- Daisy.

"Come on bro." Ron says. "We will be together after the college. Remember we are going to start our business project soon." He say cheerfully.

Donald smiles. 

Sophia looks at Hayden who watching his friend. "Baby. I want you meet someone with me." Sophia asks.

"Whom?" He looks at her questionably.

"You will know it soon." She says with bright smile.

"Let take some photo." Daisy suggests and takes out her phone. 

The group starts to click so many pictures, with different positions.

Sophia gets a call from someone. She looks excited seeing the dialer name. She picks up the call and walks away from the group.

"What happen to her? Where is she going?" Ron asks Hayden. 

Hayden shrugs his shoulder, "Don't know."

"Let go and find about it." Donald suggests. 

They follow the way Sophia went. Out of the school gate, they found Sophia walking towards the luxurious cars standing outside the gate. 

"Wow. Look at those cars, man." Ron says with amusement. 

Sophia runs towards the car as the door of the car opens. A old man steps out of the car. Sophia hugs him.

"What the fuck." Ron swears. "Why is Sophia hugging an old man?"

Hayden was shocked seeing hugging the old man. 

"Don't tell him. There's a relation between them." Ron blurts out. 

"It must be her family." Daisy says, clarifying for her friends.

"How can it be her family? Sophia comes from her a middle class family." Ron informs. "Look at her simple dressing style. If her family is so rich, why don't she wear those branded clothes. I'm telling you, there must be something going on between them. And you don't know, these type of old rich man wants Young college girls to be their partners."

Hayden clenches his wrist and walks away from the group. He's heartbroken.

Seeing him, his friends also walks away.

Hayden opens his eyes. His eyes turns cold thinking about her. How stupid was he to fall for her? He never expected Sophia to be this kind of money loving person. 

If she was with that old man, why did she form a relation with him?

If she wanted rich person by her side, why did she was with a broken bankrupted person like him?

Hayden's family was once considered in the rich families. He lived a nice life. Everything changed, after his dad was caught cheating on with a mistress. His dad kicked him and his mother out after their divorce. His mother did some jobs to earn money for her son's tuition fees. She worked day and night for her son. Until she passed away, after having a heart attack on Hayden's final years of college. During that time, Sophia took great care of him. For many days or months, he was in gloomy state. It was Sophia who understood him and supported him. Pulling him out of his misery.

After being heartbroken and betrayed by Sophia. He went abroad after taking some money from his father. He's father humiliated him before giving money for his tuition and airplane ticket. He left the country.

His life in the abroad was not easy. He worked harder to plan his business. His business started to thrive when he received the news about his dad. His dad was caught in tax evation and embezzlement of public funds. His dad was imprisoned for 20 years. His business was declared bankrupt. His mistress was arrested for doing illegal business.

Hayden didn't react. His father called him many times for his help. He ignored it every time. It was his retribution for his mistakes he committed. He continue to work hard on making his business successful. His hard work and dedication were rewarded.

He came back to the country with business success. After returning, his first business collaboration was with Gemma's company, where he met Sophia who was working as intern. 

She look still simple just like used to be. But I know beneath that simple and innocene façade their is a money loving, gold digger person. Hayden thinks. His jaw tightens. 

David comes to his office again. "Boss. People from Gem company are calling us, repeatedly. What should we do?" He asks.

"Let them keep on waiting." Hayden answers. He takes the file back to read.

After calling the day off, he went to club to meet his friend. Ron and Donald takeover their family businesses. Daisy and Donald got married. Ron is enjoying his life.

They click their glasses and drink. Hayden was drinking non stop. 

"What happen to you?" Ron questions, "Why did you turn as an animal?"

"I saw her today." Hayden informs them.

"Fuck. Are you fucking kidding me?" Ron exclaims. "How? When? Where?"

"At the Gem company, where she is working as an intern." Hayden updates them.

"Working as an intern? Did that old man dumped her for someone new?" Ron laughs. "She kinds of deserves it. She two timed you. She should face the consequences."

"Did she talked with you?" Donald asks with concern.

Hayden shakes his head. "No. She didn't. But.."

"But what?" 

"She still wore the bracelet I gifted her." Hayden says, shocking both of them.

"What is that bitch even thinking wearing that bracelet?" Ron question angrily. "Does she have no shame?"

"I don't know. But she still wore that bracelet." Hayden says. "I can't understand her. What is going on?"

"Is she working as intern?" Donald asks.

"I'm gonna ask someone to find about her." Ron says and bottoms up.

"I'm leaving."
