Well, it seems like today I've run into a problem... Or, I guess it's Pops' problem more like...? But hey, Pops is my best friend! And when you're best friends with someone, their problems become your problems as well!!
Well, anyways... For context, Pops' dad is the owner of this park, and... His dad wants him to perform this important speech today! But he's really anxious about doing so and has been freaking out about it all day... I've been trying to help him, but I'm honestly not sure if there's anything I can do or say that's been helpful... Oh, if only I could just find some way to help him out...
Well, right now me and Pops were sitting on these swing sets, Pops crying as I tried my best to think of anything else to say to him.
"Well... Maybe your dad could find someone else to do the speech?" I suggested. "I mean, I'd be glad to take your place if he was fine with it!"
"No... It has to be me who does the speech!" Pops whimpered. "I doubt my dad will say yes..."
"Oh, well..."
My voice trailed off when I saw Mordecai and Rigby, the two walking over to us.
"Ugh, you two? Get out of here already!" I quickly snapped at them.
"Hey, calm down Clover! All we wanna do is check up on Pops." Mordecai replied defensively, looking over to him. "Hey, Pops, everything ok?" He asked.
"No... My father wants me to give a speech in front of all his friends today..." Pops replied. "But I can't... Because I'm a no good turkey, and I'm going to strawberry-jam this whole thing up!"
"...What are you saying?" Rigby asked.
"I'm just saying I can't..." Pops says. "I don't know why, I just get terribly anxious when I give speeches!"
"I give speeches all the time, it's easy." Rigby says.
"When do you ever give speeches?" Mordecai asks.
"What, it's like, just talking in front of a bunch of people. We talk in front of each other all the time." Rigby states.
"Actually yeah, we do do that. Sees, Pops? We can totally help you get over your nerves." Mordecai says.
"Oh, thank you!" Pops smiled as he jumped out of the swing seat.
"No! Pops, you do not want these two helping you two out!" I blurted, jumping off my seat as well as I pointed at the two. "All these two are gonna do is make things worse!!"
"Oh, come on! When have we ever made things worse?" Rigby snapped back with an annoyed tone.
".........You really want me to answer that question?"
"Clover come on, just give us a chance! It's not like we can make things any worse..." Mordecai says.
"I say we let them try, Clover!" Pops says excitedly. I looked back and forth between everyone, sighing in defeat as I gave out my answer.
"Ugh, fine. But if you two find a way to mess things up even worse for Pops, I won't hesitate to tell Benson!"
"Pfft. Teacher's pet." Rigby mumbled under his breath.
"What was that?" I hissed, extending out a sharpened claw and pointing it at Rigby.
"Whoa- N-nothing!" Rigby nervously stammered. "Just please put that thing away!"
"Hmph... That's what I thought." I muttered, retracting my claw back.
"Ok, Pops. So... I want you to pretend there's a crowd of people here." Mordecai says, pointing to a small empty patch of grass behind us. "But they're all your family and friends. You know, people it's easy for you to talk to. And... Go."
"Oh, uh... I need my notes." Pops nervously stuttered, taking his notes out of his pocket. "Let's see, um... Where did everybody go? They must have hated my speech." He sadly muttered.
"No Pops, just pretend there are people there." Mordecai says.
"I'm not very good at pretending." Pops replies.
"Oh! Just pretend I'm a crowd then." I suggest, sitting down on the grass in front of him. "Just imagine me, but like... Multipled! Or, something like that."
"Um, ok... I, uh..." Pops looked down at his notes, looking incredibly nervous once more. He looked back and forth between me and the notes...
"Oh, I can't do this!" Pops tossed his notes frantically, dropping to the ground as he curled up into a ball and started crying once more.
"Okay, I guess this isn't working..." Mordecai says.
"I guess Pops will just never be able to give a speech, know what I'm saying- Oww!!" Rigby remarked, Mordecai suddenly punching him in the shoulder.
"Pops, are you alright?" I asked worriedly.
"Ohh I don't know... I just don't think I can do it." Pops whimpered.
"Hey, I know! Why don't you just picture everybody naked?" Mordecai suggests.
"Naked...?"
"Yeah!"
"Ok..."
Pops glanced back and forth between the three of us, looking like he was about t cry again.
"I don't like doing this!"
"Ugh! I don't know, why don't you just spin around and get dizzy or something?" Rigby suggests with an annoyed tone.
"What? How's that gonna do anything?" Mordecai asks.
"It makes more sense than looking at naked people." Rigby says. "Pops, what would you rather do- spin around and get dizzy, or look at naked people?"
"Get dizzy..." Pops replied.
"I guess we have nothing to lose at this point." I sighed.
"Hm. Hm hm. Hmm hmm. Why don't you give it a try, Pops?" Rigby says.
"Um, okay..."
Pops stood back up, stretching out his arms.
"Ok, ready...? Now spin!"
Pops started to spin, picking up speed as he started spinning faster.
"Oh, yes!"
"Is it working?" Mordecai asks.
"Ah hahahaha! Oh my, it's true! I'm not nervous anymore!" Pops giggled excitedly. "It's working, it's working! I'm gonna do it! I'm gonna give the best speech I've ever given!"
As much as I was glad that Pops wasn't nervous anymore, he... He was spinning around so fast. A bit too fast, in fact.
"Pops, you should probably slow down a bit! You might make yourself sick or something!" I say.
"Ok Pops, you should stop now..." Mordecai says.
"But I have to keep spinning till I give my speech!" Pops says, still spinning around rapidly.
"Did I tell you I'm not nervous anymore?!"
"Yeah, you did." Mordecai says.
"A bunch of times, actually." Rigby says.
"Isn't it wonderful? I think I'm finally ready!" Pops exclaims, somehow starting to spin around even faster.
"Careful, Pops!" We all worriedly shouted. Pops then started stumbling around, falling to the ground and passing out. I swear I saw something weird too, like his body fell through some sort of dimension for a second before passing out.
"POPS!!" I ran over to Pops worriedly. "Oh no... Wake up, please!"
"Oh, dude. He must have passed out from spinning too much..." Mordecai says.
"Never pass out... When they're markers about!" Rigby smirked, pulling out a marker.
"What's wrong with you?!" I quickly snapped, slapping the marker out of Rigby's hand.
"Dude, this isn't some sleepover! This is serious!" Mordecai snaps at Rigby.
"He's still not waking up..." I worriedly muttered. "Wh-what do we do?!"
"I'm gonna get help... You two stay with Pops!" Mordecai says, as he ran off.
Me and Rigby waited for a while silently, as I stared down at Pops for most of the time. I eventually looked away, looking out into the distance and waiting for someone to show up. Eventually I saw a golf cart pull up to us, with Mordecai, Benson and Skips.
"Oh, no- what are you doing?! Get away from him!" Benson snapped, all of them running up to us. I turned around, then noticing that Rigby had drawn all over Pops' face.
"Rigby, what's wrong with you?!" I angrily snapped at him.
"Sorry, it's a nervous habit!" Rigby replied. "You guys were taking forever."
"This is a disaster! Look at him!" Benson says, Mordecai and Rigby trying to hold back laughter.
"It's not funny! Skips, what do we do?" Benson asks.
"Hmm... You shouldn't have made him spin like that." Skips says. He then skips over to a toolbox in the golf cart, opening it up and pulling out a rope. "You're gonna have to go in after him.
"Go in where?" Rigby asks.
"Into Pops." Skips says.
"Like... His mind?" I asked. "I'll go in! I wanna help Pops."
"Yeah, I'm going in too." Mordecai says.
"Guess there's no reason for me to go if Clover's going, so... Good luck you two!" Rigby says.
"Pfft... Wimp." Mordecai muttered under his breath.
"Alright... Let's do this." I say confidently, me and Mordecai grabbing each other's hands. We then started to spin around faster and faster, now getting dizzy... We theh stumbled over, Skips quickly lassoing the rope around us... As we ended up falling into some kind of dimension. Then, we saw Pops, who was surrounded by a bunch of these monster like looking people. He was talking to these three animals as well, who almost resembled me, Mordecai and Rigby, except they were all wearing top hats.
"There he is! HEY, POPS!!" I shouted, catching Pops' attention as he turned around and looked up at us.
"Mordecai, Clover! Hello!" Pops happily greeted us.
"Pops, we've come to bring you back!" Mordecai says,
"But I don't want to come back. I like it here!" Pops says.
"But what about your speech?" Mordecai asks.
"I don't want to give the speech." Pops replied.
"But we've all been trying so hard to try and help you!" I say. "You're not gonna do it anymore?"
"Yes!"
"This is ridiculous! Come on Pops, let's go! You're coming back with us!" Mordecai says, looking a bit annoyed now.
"No, I'm not!"
"Pops, let's go!"
"I said no!!" Pops angrily snapped. "Now, listen here- I've gone through enough turmoil because of this confounded speech!" Pops states. "Why is it me that needs to speak? Surely there are those more qualified than I. I hate speaking in front of crowds, and we've tried every which way for it to work, but I just simply cannot do it. Why am I like this? I don't know. But surely my father must understand that there are limits to my abilities. I'll never be able to give a speech, and that's just fine by me."
Me and Mordecai both exchanged a look, and I could tell that we were both thinking the exact same thing.
"Never say never, Pops." Mordecai says with a smile.
"What do you mean?" Pops asks.
"You did it! You just gave a speech!" I state excitedly, Pops gasping as he looked back at the others.
"I did! I did give a speech!"
"Yeah! It looks like you weren't as nervous since you were facing away from the crowd!" I state.
"It's true, I didn't feel nervous at all!" Pops says, running over to the others. "Friends I'm sorry, but I have to leave you now."
"Indeed! You do have to leave, for you have broken the law!" One of them says.
"No speeches!" The other says. The blue jay and raccoon people both angrily hissed and roared, the blue jay trying to peck at Pops as he dodged the attack.
"Pops!!"
"Skips, drop us lower!" Mordecai shouts up to Skips, who lowered us down just a bit more.
"More, Skips!"
"That's all we got!" Skips shouted back. Pops kept running from the animals, the blue jay grabbing onto Pops with his beak and lifting him up. He then chucked Pops into the air, flying up as he was able to grab and cling onto us.
"Skips, pull us up!" Mordecai shouted. The two of us were quickly pulled back up out of the dimension, Pops quickly waking back up.
"Pops, you're awake!" Benson smiled with relief.
"Benson, my good man! Pardon me, I just came back from this strange and wonderful place!" Pops exclaims.
"Ok sure, but can you still give the speech?" Benson asked.
"Oh yes, I'm finally prepared!" Pops nods.
"Thank goodness... We just have to get this trash off his face." Benson says, pointing to Rigby's drawing all over Pops.
"Nah it's cool, Pops is gonna give his speech facing backwards anyway, so..." Mordecai says.
"What?! You idiot, this isn't some kind of joke! He can't give a major speech in front of a distinguished crowd facing backwards!" Benson snaps. "If Mr. Maelard sees this, we're all gonna get fired."
"Give me the marker." Mordecai says to Rigby. Rigby promptly handed him the marker...
"Turn around, Pops."
Pops did so, Mordecai drawing Pops' face on the back of his head as Benson had a worried look on his face.
"...We're dead."

Sometime later...
After that, all of us had to hurry and head on over to where Pops would give off his speech. We all watched intently, Pops back to the crowd...
"Ahem... Ladies and gentlemen, I hereby dedicate this new statue to the park."
Pops spoke perfectly, Skips revealing a statue as everyone in the crowd clapped.
"...That's the whole speech?!" Mordecai and Rigby looked surprised.
"Yeah!" I also clapped and cheered. Afterwards, we all went over to this nearby snack table and got some food.
"...That went pretty well." Rigby says, between bites of food.
"Are you kidding me?" Benson says.
"You can't fire me. I thought of the marker thing." Mordecai says.
"Yeah we totally saved you this time, Benson." Rigby says, Benson grumbling with annoyance.
"And see, Clover? We totally didn't mess you this time!" Rigby says, looking to me with a smug look.
"Wow... That's a one in a million for you idiots!" I remarked sarcastically, taking a bite of my food.
As much as I hate to admit it... They actually did help out today. And as long as Pops is happy, then... I'm happy too.
