The Paw Patrol's garage buzzed with the hum of activity. Tools clanged, machinery whirred, and the faint scent of oil filled the air. Rocky stood beside his green recycling truck, a wrench in his paw, tightening a bolt on the vehicle's hydraulic arm. Across the garage, Rubble crouched next to his sturdy construction rig, carefully adjusting the treads on the vehicle's tracks. The occasional sound of their tools hitting metal filled the spacious room, a steady rhythm that echoed their shared focus.
"Hey, Rubble," Rocky called out, glancing over as he tightened the final bolt. "How's it coming along? Need a hand?"
Rubble looked up, wiping a streak of grease from his nose with his paw. "Nah, I think I've got it. Just making sure the treads are secure. Don't want them slipping when we're out there."
Rocky nodded approvingly. "Good thinking. Adventure City's terrain can be tricky, especially in construction zones. Better safe than sorry."
Rubble chuckled, leaning back to inspect his work. "You know me, Rocky. Always ready to dig in, literally."
Rocky smirked. "And figuratively. You're one of the hardest workers on the team."
The two pups worked in companionable silence for a few minutes, the steady rhythm of their efforts creating a sense of calm amid the preparations for their upcoming mission. It wasn't often they had the chance to work side by side like this, and it gave them both a sense of purpose.
After a while, Rubble broke the quiet. "Hey, Rocky, you've been on the team longer than me. You ever feel, I don't know, nervous before a big mission like this?"
Rocky paused, setting down his wrench and leaning against his truck. "Yeah, sometimes. Adventure City's no small place, and this mission sounds serious. But you know what? Feeling nervous isn't a bad thing. It keeps you sharp and makes you more aware."
Rubble tightened the last bolt on his tread and stood up, stretching his back. "Yeah, I get that. It's just... thinking about all those people counting on us? It's kinda big, you know?"
Rocky crossed his arms, his green eyes thoughtful. "It is big. But that's why we're a team. You don't have to carry that weight on your own. We've got each other's backs, no matter what."
Rubble smiled, his tail wagging slightly. "You're right. Still, sometimes I feel like I need to step up more. Be more than just the construction pup."
Rocky tilted his head, considering Rubble's words. "You're already more than that, Rubble. You're dependable, strong, and you've got one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know. The team sees it, even if you don't."
Rubble looked down, his ears twitching slightly as he processed the compliment. "Thanks, Rocky. That means a lot, coming from you."
Rocky grabbed a rag and started wiping grease off his paws. "No problem. And hey, we all feel like we've got something to prove sometimes. Even Blaze and Misty are probably feeling it. They're new, but they've already shown they've got what it takes."
Rubble nodded thoughtfully. "Yeah, they're fitting in pretty well. Blaze seems to know his stuff when it comes to machines. Kinda like you."
Rocky grinned. "He's got potential, for sure. I might have to challenge him to a build-off one day. Think you'd want to join in?"
Rubble laughed. "Oh, you know it! As long as we're building something cool and big!"
The two pups shared a hearty laugh, the camaraderie between them growing stronger with each passing moment. Rocky tossed the rag onto a nearby workbench and gestured toward the garage doors.
"Feel like taking a break? We can grab some water and figure out what else we need to prep before we leave."
Rubble nodded, his smile wide. "Sounds good. I want to make sure we're more than ready for Adventure City."
As they walked out of the garage together, the conversation continued. Rocky glanced at Rubble as they strolled. "You know, I think this mission is going to be good for all of us. Adventure City's a big place, and it's not just about the work we'll do, it's about growing as a team."
Rubble considered Rocky's words, his expression turning serious. "You're right. And it's not just about helping the city. It's about proving to ourselves that we're ready for anything."
Rocky gave Rubble a light nudge with his shoulder. "Exactly. And from what I've seen, you're more than ready. Just don't forget to have a little fun along the way."
Rubble grinned. "Fun? With you around, how could I not?"
Rocky rolled his eyes good-naturedly. "Alright, Mr. Jokester. Let's grab that water and get back to work. Adventure City's not going to wait for us."
The two pups headed toward the kitchen area of the Lookout, their bond stronger than ever. Despite the challenges ahead, they felt a renewed sense of purpose and camaraderie. Together, they knew they could face whatever Adventure City threw their way.
